If Autocar is correct, it seems (you and I) won't have to try that Watt, they will have full racing buckets available for the 997. Here is what they said:

I am certain that applies to the ROW market. Not for North American bound cars.

Sorry, I just realised you guys are right, its only for RoW.
I just remembered the US 997 version has the side airbags integrated in the seats so there will be no factory bucket seats option

Carlos, not sure if the side airbags have anything to do with it. The US government only mandates the front airbags. After all, the 996 had side airbags in the doors. To my knowledge, the non-availability of the GT3 seats in the US is a choice issue on Porsche's part.

I thought it had to do with DOT regs. The same reason why US cars are "taller" and have orange side markers instead of clear.

My understanding of the seat situation is that the DOT considers the seat a significant factor in crash safety, and if a substantially different seat is installed, the manufacturer would have to crash test additional cars. The similar seats in the CGT are, I believe, the only option, so that model would have been crashed with them installed.

...... I don't otherwise see why the airbag equipped seats could not be removed and replaced with GT3 seats, assuming you are willing to live with the reduced crash safety.
