Good times. I had my share of tyrannical teachers. Kids these days would not last a minute. It was not all bad and like you found some of these teachers were amazing individuals.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Been reading all the reviews you guys posted here a while back, this is quite a car!!! Significant improvements vs .1.

should be one heck of a canyon slammer!!!!

Happy Sky ordered PCCB, the lower unsprung weight seems confirmed to help handling. Sun, on the other hand, ordered red brakes since he tracks his car.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Watt, there are several European reviews on Rennlist. All say the same thing. Fantastic car appreciably better than the .1.

991.2 GT3 is certainly the 911 go to for right now...I just don't like the lack of PDK in the touring version.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Everytime you restrict an option when there is no real mechanical or incompatibility reason to do so is not good, the only reason there is no PDK option is because they don't want it to have PDK... In those cases let the customer choose, it's not for them to decide IMO. Well, they make the cars so they can decide, sure, but it's not decent.

Lol wait, you can't get pdk in the touring model? How retarded. Pdk is what most people without a wing would want.

No, the Touring is designed for people who wanted a 911R but couldn't get one.

It's also a way to control the 80/20 percentage ratio of GT3/Touring orders.

What I mean is, it would weaken the GT3 image if they would sell less and less of its wing variant. And where would the GTS eventually fit in, if everyone would order a Touring. This strategy (only manual) is far from "retarded"

I get why a Touring is considered suitable for manual only, it's considered a purist's car, I like it that way. I assume it's also a way of maximizing sales of their MT, making the investment worthwhile? Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

It's enables Porsche to spread the R development costs over a larger number of 911s.  I'm sure they are looking at this as a brand extension for the GT3 family of cars.  Perhaps the next addition will be a PDK version in the 992 GT3 touring edition.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

A PDK touring GT3 with rear seat would destroy the fine balance Porsche has created and that allows them to milk their customer base ad nauseum. If you add the possible arrival of the Panamera coupe in the lineup, the non convertible regular 911 would be stuck between a rock and a hard place and could see their sales drop dramatically. And since this is Porsche bread and butter (don’t forget Porsche make money on Boxsters which cost pretty much the same as a 911 to build), they just won’t allow it. They want to keep playing games like that? So be it, but many people including here are leaving the boat.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I think there could be a symmetry created of Touring with Manual Only and RS with PDK-S only.  Makes sense to me.  The GT3 with both gearboxes is interesting and may only be a transitional thing.  I could imagine with the 992 that the gearbox may determine which model (and wing) you get (only one transmission per model).  Touring for Manual and GT3/RS for PDK-S.

Hey, there's a touring version!  Didn't use ta  be, be happy.  The only cars they make worth owing are the GT cars, and that's another style for those who like that...  Porsche is no fool.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Well, I still do not see the point of deleting the rear seats in a car that has been created from the get go to accommodate 4 people. It's like a convertible on which the mechanism to operate the roof would have been removed to save some weight. It doesn't make any sense. If the goal is to save weight, just build a coupe from the start. And if you want a 2 seater, don't use a 4 seater to build it. Just use the GT3's engine in the cayman and be done with it.

If I had the money right now, which I don't, I would want a GT3 with PDK and rear seats. As it's not possible, I would have to order a GTS, whichis fine, except I'd end-up being a tiny bit frustrated. Well done Porsche.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

The GT3 Touring as specified is a cynical jok€ on behalf of Porsche.

A "Touring" version of a more hardcore car  by definition should have the rear seats and the PDK as standard, with a choice to delete either or both.

I really thought it had never been done but you're right. I like the SL black series a lot though  Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

GT3 and RS were never ever offered rear seats from day one.

911 already has way more variants than any of its competitors for customers to choose from.

I really do not see why Porsche is to blame for anything here.

What is wrong with protecting profits of one's business legally?

If they are not offering cars that people want, why are they selling everything that they can built?

Yes, a lot of expensive options, but nobody tell anyone to order them.  One needs to pay to play.

It is a free world.  People can buy, or not buy.  I really do not understand any of the complaints.
