Buy a 911, i cant stress enough how much i dislike AM's looks, drove a DB9 and really hated it, just couldnt get along with it one bit, it reminded me of a ford with lots of leather. The 911 has something that NO other car has, plus its cheap AND more reliable. just my thoughts though and each to there own hehe

    Now you got a problem...

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

good to see your upgrade bug is eating up on you yet again!

may I ask why the 997GT3 or the R8 didnt make it on your list???

they are about the same price

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

GT3 is just too similar to my current car, and I am not sure about a $280k Audi (that's the on road price with a couple of little options. The AMV8 is similarly priced, and I just find it hard to dismiss the looks and sound! I am also planning to buy a track car like an EVO9 so that I don't ruin the Aston.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

    Way:

send me a PM once u have ordered the AM, I wanna know their option pricing and waiting time etc etc....

I jsut cant wait till the day I walk into that dealership and sign the papers..... still some yrs off

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

    Get an R8.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

the only solution is to buy both...

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

I bought my AMV8 today. Will probably pick it up tomorrow/Thursday. Bye bye 911, hello Aston!

    Congratulations Way!

You will not regret your decission. I've been driving a v8 of a friend, and the sensation of "always be in in Monaco" is real , besides in normal conditions you'll not notice "that" small diference that the Aston has vs the Carrera peformancewise. But is a joy to drive...even a joy just looking at it. Much more than a sport car.....It's an "attitude".

I saw in the amoc that you finally went to the Ghillies green, I just have to say that is very, very nice. Tons of elegance. Just as a "Sportive Bentley" if I an permitted. Choosing the colour in an Aston is hard work....because all are stunning!

I hope you'll post some pics in the near future.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

    WAY .. to go!!

I too saw your entry on AMOC, I know what you mean about the difficulty of waiting. My coupe goes this week, I've then a couple of months until my Roadster arrives.

Can't wait to see the pics.. pretty sure I'm doing Toro Red again on the roadster... but who knows!!!

    congrats WAY!!!

I saw you AMOC thread we well.... and your spec is pretty loaded up with options!!

pls check your PM, wanna ask you some qu.
    cheers.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

Hey thanks guys for the well wishes. I am surprised how many of you browse AMOC. I will post pics of my car here and on AMOC when I get it.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

Congrats on your new purchase. You will not be disappointed, I assure you. I sold my 997S for a Vantage several months ago, and I absolutely love it. The Porsche may have been faster, but the AM looks and exclusivity have been a worthwhile trade off.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

It's really curious how many Carrera fans (me included) are moving to the Aston.....Porsche should offer us something really attractive as used to do in the past...unfortunately I doubt it...(They prefer the masses of the "Panamera republic")

Meanwhile, thanks Aston, we can enjoy such a masterpiece of design and class, with a more than reasonable performance. The perfect "all inclusive"....and I'm anxious to see the Prodrive developments. Maybe they will surprise us joining a racing spirit with the unmachable class of Aston Martin.

Congrats WAY. I had a look at your car the other night at the dealer (mine was getting serviced). The Green with the dark wheels looks very aggressive. Looks awsome!. We'll have to do another photo shoot together for Rennteam.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

May i ask what AMOC is? Thank you!

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

Thank you for replying so promptly! I already signed up!

Way I have ordered a morning frost V8, production should start next week... I didnt know about stratus white, and it looks quite interesting! My dealer has the Vanquish S of Dr Bez for sale!!!

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

Congrats Nikolas! I would love either morning frost or stratus white, but I really didn't want to wait another 10 months for the car. I have signed all the papers and the car is mine, but I haven't picked it up yet as I ran out of time yesterday. Maybe today or tomorrow.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

It seems a lot of 911 owners are moving to the AMV8 instead of the 997tt. My guess (and personal reason) is to take look, exclusivity and sound over pure performance. I just don't drive that fast often and need to keep my driving license. Also the 997tt is dissapointing in performance (PTM setup) vs other supercars, and lack of bluetooth/ipod connection in 2008 MY is a shame.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

I believe driving an AMV8 until the 911 facelift comes out it's an interesting idea. Some people don't realize what they have until they loose it. Many will come back.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

They will come back when the 911 has all the latest gizmos and higher performance (sadly through more HP, would be nice if the weight was lower). This is 1.5 years away at best in the regular 997, 2 years + for the TT and GT3... By then the competition will be much tougher (new F cars, lambos, R10 and AMV8 "S").

IMHO Porsche needs to lower the weight significantly as they will loose the HP war. Massive use of aluminium and carbon fiber is in order. Reducing weight will automatically help handling and real world performance.

I agree, except with the "Massive use of Al and CF". I would prefer "Non-Massive" use of Al and CF

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

I agree. The 911 must go on a diet and fast in order to stay competitive.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

I am now facing a similar dillema, having moved completely out of the countryside into the city and having a much more hectic lifestyle not involving motorosports...

My head tells me to get the 911 turbo, but my heart says go for the Aston V8.

In the last 10 years, I have mabye seen 10-20 Aston Martins of any sort in NYC/Greenwich, CT USA.

The exclusivity factor of the Aston is undeniable compared to Porsche's 100k and growing cars per year.

I am getting the Aston as soon as the next model year comes back and they start producing coupe's again (as they shifted the factory completely over to roadsters).

There have been numerous improvements over the years and they seem to listen to customer input ALOT more than Porsche. - HOW Long did it take Porsche to put Ipod link / aux in into the MOST bus? 6+ years!!!

Deposit placed for the aston, delivery spring 08 (if nothing better comes out in the meantime).

Even with sport pack handling the DB9 is too big for me.

And counting, MY08 doesn't have it.

AM seems to listen to customers all right.

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

IMO porsche never had a performance problem, but when somebody pays big money he looks for some exclusivity

Re: The time has finally come Aston Vantage or 911

The 997 TT has a performance problem now, the competitors are getting faster but not the 997TT vs 996TT...
