    here we are in a (then new) Lamborghini Gallardo SE, and we decide to try out a bit of tunnel action.

    ---> http://aussieexotics.com/videos/lamborghini-gallardo-se-in-heysen-tunnel-8167

    we might have shot more, except that i got taken away by the cops after a couple runs.

    Re: exotics in australia

    Here's an F430 vs Gallardo, not sure what i was on when i made this vid but i guess it's sorta like a 2-player video game

    two different versions, the whole build-up and drag race:

    or just the drag race:

    Re: exotics in australia

    Dropped in me ol' mate goober today to check out his latest acquisition, an immaculate fibreglass Ferrari 308GTB, as close to being off-the-showroom-floor as any car could possibly be.

    it has just ticked over 13,000km, and it drives like magic. everything is absolutely pristine on this vehicle, you'd be hard pressed to find a better unrestored example on this planet. the price paid was a good 30-50% over the current market value of a reasonable 308, but he's no fool when it comes to vehicle purchases so this is testimony to how good the car really is.

    Re: exotics in australia

    last weekend a bunch of us went to Tasmania to do a quick lap of the island.

    if you've never been there you should check it out, especially if you enjoy driving! it has spectacular scenery, very little traffic, and some of the best roads on the planet.

    not long into the first day of this adventure everyone was already convinced that this was the best driving holiday you could ever hope to have.

    the attending cars were an eclectic bunch, a Lamborghini Gallardo SE, Ferrari 355 Challenge, Porsche 997 GT3, Honda NSX, BMW M5, BMW 550, Corvette, WRX, Ford Falcon XR8, Jaguar E-Type, and we were joined along the way by an Audi RS4 (or something).

    first up, the boys from Adelaide had to travel 800km just to get to the ferry to get there, and the pics from that portion of the journey are online in this gallery here:
    http://aussieexotics.com/2007/05/18/lap-of-tasmania-leg-1-adelaide-to-melbourne

    later on the other parts of the adventure will be online, but for now here's some random pics...

    (sorry there's so many, i just couldn't pick a few favourites)

    Re: exotics in australia

    here's a vid compilation of the pics.

    ---> http://aussieexotics.com/videos/tasmania-the-deliverance-state-10590/

    it's a normal "web-size" video, but underneath it is a link to the hi-resolution version, basically dvd quality.

    (hi-res requires divX plugin - painless on firefox)

    Re: exotics in australia

    i'm trying out this divX full-screen hi-res stuff, i reckon it's pretty dam cool especially after spending the last couple years watching internet videos at the size of a grainy postage stamp.

    the first link will be to a flash version with a link beneath it to a hi-res version, which requires a browser plugin but is worth the couple of clicks.

    here's the first couple of test vids, very fast cars doing what they do best, going very fast!

    ---> Outback drive-bys - one
    ---> Outback drive-bys - two

    it's basically dvd quality, i'm lovin it. lots more updates to come later, until then, here's a bonus clip:

    Re: exotics in australia

    like the Pagani Zonda ?

    the Bloke in australia with the only one just went on a Zonda holiday, and here's his great write-up of the event:
    clicky ---> http://aussieexotics.com/2007/06/26/third-pagani-zonda-gathering-in-italy

    13 Pagani Zondas and a couple other slummer cars like something called a McLaren SLR and 599 or something... :P

    Re: exotics in australia

    here's a battle of two Lamborghini Gallardos...

    ---> http://aussieexotics.com/videos/lamborghini-gallardo-drag-race-e-gear-vs-manual-6-speed-11434

    (click the link below the vid to see a hi-res dvd quality version!)

    it's a drag race between an '04 with E-Gear (orange with tubi exhaust) and '06 with manual (camera car).

    very interesting in that the '06 has 20hp more and a much shorter gear ratio down low so gets a better take-off, but the e-gear is much quicker for anyone but a serious race driver and has longer legs in the middle gears.

    Re: exotics in australia

    here's a drag race between a Ferrari F430 (paddle-shift) and '06 Lamborghini Gallardo (manual). (both cars belong to same bloke)

    Re: exotics in australia

    a few folk made the pilgrimage yet again to the red centre of Australia, yet another awesome Aussie driving adventure. i'll let the pics and vids do the talking.

    Re: exotics in australia

    Hey, been a while without any updates - been busy, but sadly not so much sports car action.

    Latest vid shows some of the beauty of Tasmania - this is the climb out of Queenstown, truly one of the most spectacular roads... but then Tassie has a lot of that!
    ---> http://aussieexotics.com/videos/queenstown-tasmania-15937

    How fast can you go in first gear in a Murcielago?
    ---> http://aussieexotics.com/videos/lamborghini-murcielago-first-gear-14872

    This vid is pretty boring - it's basically just driving towards Ayer's Rock, but at least we're doing it in Lamborghinis!
    ---> http://aussieexotics.com/videos/uluru-and-lamborghinis-14873

    And Top Gear has awarded the following footage to be among the 10 greatest overtaking manouvres of all time - it's Dean Evans racing in the Lotus Trophy cup at Bathurst - if you haven't seen it before, it is a must see.

    I've just bought myself a new camera - the Canon Powershot S5 IS - and will be attending the National Ferrari Rally in a couple weeks, so I'll be back in early November with so many pics of red cars you'll think your eyes are bleeding!!!

    Stay tuned!

    Re: exotics in australia

    That video of the Lotus passing everyone is insane!!! I can't believe he's bumping the other cars like that, I'd be pissed!

    There was no bumping! It was a totally clean race - I've read the account from some guys who were in it, it was just one of those phenomenal times when everything came together.

    Re: exotics in australia

    Thought I'd upload another vid - Lamborghini Urraco in a tunnel.

    And here I am.

    Nearly 70 Ferraris got together around the nation's capital last week for the 34th National Ferrari Rally and to celebrate the 60th Anniversary - I took over 15gb of pics and vids so will update over the next week or so.

    First (pre)leg of the Ferrari Rally was us just getting there, 1300km in 2 days in Ferraris.

    All the pics etc here:

    Here's a couple... There are gazillions more to come...

    Next batch of pics from Lake Crackenback Resort are up.

    Check them out with slideshows and stuff here:

    Re: exotics in australia

    And here's a video of the Ferrari Relay.

    ---> http://aussieexotics.com/videos/ferrari-relay-national-rally-wakefield-park-17603

    It's like a normal relay race with a baton and rivalry amongst the states, except the driver's in the team have to take a Ferrari cap for a lap around the track, stop within a specified zone, jump out of the car and run to pit lane where the next car is waiting to take off and hand them the cap.

    It's also supposed to be run with a V6, a V8, and a V12 in the relay - though this year most states didn't have each type of car at the track so some concessions were made.

    This vid is the ACT entry. (Australian Capital Territory)

    Re: exotics in australia

    A few more interesting shots from the resort. Next update will be the concours...

    Re: exotics in australia

    The page for the Concours d'Elegance has been published (175 photos):

    ---> http://aussieexotics.com/2007/11/12/ferrar...cours-delegance

    It was a freezing cold, pelting rain, blustery day... So not too many decent shots as almost impossible to keep the lens dry.

    Here's a preview of some of the pics...

    Re: exotics in australia

    For those of you ogling at all the photos I post and sit there thinking "gee it'd be nice to have a dozen or so of these photos on my wall that I can look at throughout the year..." well, good news!

    I've invented something which I call - a "Calendar"!!! They are very large (13.5"/34cm wide x 19"/48cm high) but damn cool.

    And because I couldn't pick just 12 lucky photos, I've designed more than one set to choose from.

    If you just want to browse all of them, start here:
    ---> Aussie Exotics Calendars

    For those who prefer a given marque, try these:
    ---> Ferrari / Lamborghini / Porsche / BMW <---

    Here's a few preview thumbnails of the photos which are on them, and also some examples of what the months look like.

    PS. All calendars have the Formula One season marked out on them rather than a bunch of useless holidays.
