    Crazy Thought with my RS

    Had my first track day for the year in the RS. It was amazing. Time to change tires already though, after just 3500 km. And those brakes got awfully hot. Probabaly myself just breaking badly at the start of the season. Picture below.

    I have a crazy thought which is to repaint the black to Gulf Blue and keep the orange insignia and wheels. I know it's probably stupid, but I can't get it out of my head. Any thoughts? Also, if someone could P-shop it I would be very greatful. Thanks!!

    WHy not. do it via a foil - that way you can remove it once you had seen enough of it. should cost no more than Euro 2k

    new tires at 3.500kms??? , what the hell have you done???

    Golf blue is a very nice colour, a colour that only has to be done on gt3's , although I think its a great idea, I would just wait for some time, untill I see a real pic of the combo you want (I'm sure that in a short period of time will see some real pics of this combo for the 997series)....

    For now I would just wait untill someone goes for it, and then....decide it

    here is a gulf blue p-shop I found some time ago, I think it was form a 6-speed user

    This is gulf blue, I thought gulf is lighter?

    Can you really order a GT3 in this color?

    another p-shop, this colour suits the car PERFECT!!!!

    What TEE1 said is a great idea, it can also be another good method to keep in good condition the original colour

    I'd say Gulf Blue is even darker than the first one, isn't it?

    http://www.motoringinvestments.com/s105%20911T.htm here's a 911T in gulf blue. It is actually more washed out/powdery than the first picture, and more like the second. That is why the orange "pops" so much against it.

    I think Gulf blue with Orange wheels and script would look great. I would order it new that way, but never devalue an RS by re-painting it after the fact...

    That last image (photoshopped) is Gulf Blue,--but not available for the 997 cars. (I know, I tried to order one that way!)

    Both my pshops above, 2nd is more accurate. I love the colour on the Gallardo (Celeste Phoebe), not so sure about the 997 though.

    How about wrapping the car? The picture below is a 911RS which was restored to it's original white and then wrapped in a Gulf Blue "race car type coating".

    I know RUF did it to this 997 R Kompressor which is actually black underneath!

    A wrap is basically a large vinyl covering to my understanding. Easily removable and does not damage the paint underneath. How it looks... is another question.

    Because the thin film used just isn't very durable when exposed to weather, etc.

    Don't do it, car is beautiful as is. Gulf blue is from another era, 917 etc, moveon.org....
