Disappointing IMO, it looks like "objective not achieved" project in my view. I was never expecting Audi to make a breakthrough in real sportcars anyway. However the real objective is sales so if it sells well then there is nothing to critizise.

Well gentlemen, who predicted it first?

I think it was Kreso who prediced it first!

Ah c'mon, that's really mean of you, Kreso is already suffering very much because of the poor results...

    Honestly I do!

R8 is marginally faster then Cayman S!

    What was Audi thinking

If I had a chance to drive it before ordering it my answer to Audi would be:"This is fast true sportscar? Come on you fuc...g morons, it is mid-engine car for eldery people!

My current mood about R8 is

    Hi Kreso,

one answer could be to postpone delivery and wait for the R10

Another option: the ABT package for the R8

P.S.: Let's wait for the first track times. Maybe they will be convincing

Nah... Get the R8 and then swap its engine with the RS6 engine when that car arrives (590 bhp).

R8: fast, be able to drive your wife around
RS4: just as fast, be able to drive around with me in the passenger seat and three hot girls in the back

    I would say that's a no-brainer .

Re: Audi R8 test in German AMS

    Marcus,

ABT package loks like a cheap chine replica radio controlled toys.

I think R8 showed a dissapointing performance than expected. R8 compared to Gallardo and F430 a few months ago(by some mags) however as we discussed and i said it is a C4S competitor(X51 would be much better than R8)

R10 would not show such a significant improve of this car , only slightly faster than this car. Just making a basic calculation same chassis, same tranny, much weight due to bigger engine, and +80hp. Also R8 same price of 997 GT3 , what would be R10. No chance in bazaar also Audi resale value is really bad.

IMO Audi built good(not perfect match for price) car for their first attempt , a serious Carrera S/4S competitor, however Porsche has the advantage of price and the brand name

LoL - a new market niche is born
Don't be so angry, Kreso - wait until you drive the car yourself. If you still really don't like it thereafter the demographic situation in most European countries will help to resell the car

    Andrej,

You are very clever man indeed...

RS4 along side with 997 turbo(manual,PCCBs,LSD)... Hmm... That do not sound that bad! In fact I like how it sounds very much!

Then I have a better proposal for you:

    -you and me in 997tt
-my wife and her friend(she own modeling agency! ) in RS4 with three new model girls at the back seats

    Interesting, isn't it?

Well, at least it has a dry sump and LSD - two things a Cayman S desperately needs before I consider one

Re: Audi R8 test in German AMS

Hey Kreso , do not get wrong like me.

    I tried the same event.

I mean a sports car (even not daily as yout 997 on order)
    And a 4 door 500hp performance car.

That was good for the first months but now i do not drive M5 with fun. No problem with the cars perfromance totaly.
I mean M5 , i see alot 520d with M package which %85 seem similar to M5 when you see on street. And 4 door car with high performance doesnt seem right to me. No good stability , you see a huge free space when you turn around , no adrenalin . But yeah fast...

So for you when you have your 997 TT you would like it and drive with fun , RS4 yeah you will think it is a good combo but after 6 months later you will keep RS4 on garage and when you on the street you will probably say a what a nice Maserati Grantourismo , or Jag XKR convertible or etc.

That why i am considering to trade M5 to used 997 TT or a new C4S convertible

R8 and 997TT combo a different story. However i noticed something R8 like a F335 GTS style would be much better looking than original. Any photshop experts can modify R8 like F355 GTS or Corvette C6 style. I mean portable roof style

Re: Audi R8 test in German AMS

    Caghan,

    Thanks for advice!

    I will think about it...

Re: Audi R8 test in German AMS

Btw this car is manual right? How much the new sequantial tranny heavier than manual one? As i see Porsche C4S tiptronic is 40kg heavier than manual tranny. Just wonder it on R8

The BMW 335i is one of the best cars currently available, perhaps even the best in its class (in fact it's a new class that BMW created with this engine). If I had to decide between the new M3 or save some money and go for a 335i Coupé, I would choose the latter.

So would I, especially since the price difference btw 335i and M3 will be at least 40 000 euro in Norway.
And if you still feel slow in the 335i you can always give DMS a call and get at least 350 hp and 500 nm for app a thousand pounds.

    (Base)Price comparison in Norway:
    BMW 335i Coupe: 103 000 euro
    Audi R8: 217 000 euro

But the R8 does sound fantastic, I'll give it that

I understand your reasoning. In the end, in this segment, the Carrera S (x51...) is still a great package. As strange as it may sound: the Carrera S is even much better compared to its competitors than the 997TT is in his competitive environment...

Re: Audi R8 test in German AMS

    Some clarification...

R8 that AMS used for test has around 2000km's on clock, the one that AZ used more then 8000km's on clock. AZ example is faster because this engine needs to loose up(same thing about RS4 as well).

Other thing is drive dynamics test resluts-they are excellent!

    R8
    Slalom 18m 69.2km/h
    ISO test 149.4km/h

    997 turbo(LSD)
    Slalom 18m 68.3km/h
    ISO test 140.9km/h

    997GT3
    Slalom 18m 71.8km/h
    ISO test 151.1km/h

So, since GT3 use CUP tires R8 resluts are pretty amazing. I think that R8 track times(Hockenheim and Nordschleife) will be pretty decent...
I made a decision I will keep R8 when it comes.

    Markus,

R8 is in all different drive dynamics class from RS4. It is pretty much an amazing car in terms of high speed stability(both straight line and curves), traction(simply awsome!) and it is very, very friendly to the driver!"
I will keep it since it is pretty different from 997 turbo.

Forthcoming V10 version will be faster in straight line but, heavy as well and R8 is already heavy car...
What is interesting is that R8 doesn feel heavy when you drive it. It feels composed! But, as I already said first thing that I noticed is that R8 is in acceleration terms not any faster then RS4(subjective feeling despite lower seating position).

V10 will be heavier, because it will have more equipment - at least two fire extinguishers

Im disappointed with that Audi still didnt announced TT 2.0T with quattro. I will have to look for alternatives - mybie 335ci or Z4 3.0is or mybie Cayman / 987...
