    2008 S ordered

After viewing a new X5 in the metal on Saturday and being somewhat underwhelmed by it I've bitten the bullet and just finalised my order for a July build Cayenne S. The spec is:

Basalt black with two tone chestnut interior
    Tiptronic
    Panoramic roof
    Privacy glass
    21" Cayenne Sport wheels
    PASM
    Sports exhaust
    Sports seats
    Porsche crest on headrests
Heated front seats & steering wheel
    Cruise control
    Light comfort package
    Ski bag
    Fire extinguisher
Multi function steering wheel in chestnut/black leather
    Sport aluminium package
    PCM with phone
Stainless steel front and rear aprons
    Titanium front grilles
    Bi-xenons
    Park assist
    Powerlift tailgate
    CD changer

I test drove both the S and Turbo models and whilst I loved the Turbo I didn't like the eztr Poundssss it would cost to the same spec nor did I like the fuel consumption. The S had plenty of power for our congested roads and if I feel a need for more speed I can take my 997 TT or Gallardo out for a spin The wait begins and I have far too much time in between to reflect on just how much money this car is going to cost me

I just checked the Porsche UK website and they show that the S and Turbo get very similar fuel consumption. Why do you feel they are different? Personal experience?

    Here is what it shows

    Urban driving - S 12.8 MPG Turbo 12.6 MPG
    Non-urban - S 26.2 MPG Turbo 26.9 MPG
    Combined - S 19.0 MPG Turbo 19.0 MPG

I understand the money difference between the S and Turbo being a factor, but I don't see a big difference in the fuel consumption.

You have ordered a nicely equipped Cayenne. It is nice to be able to order one and get exactly what you want.

    Re: 2008 S ordered

Congrats on new CS order. I've placed my CTT order last week also for July build. Marine blue with chestnut interior.

I read that the fuel consumption of S and Turbo is very similar, and less than last model due to DFI.

    Re: 2008 S ordered

    Thanks for the positive views

After test driving both cars the TT was indicating that it was getting nearly 5mpg less than the S if the performance was being used. I dare say you can drive the TT parsimoniously to save fuel but that would defeat the object somewhat Gas is now well over $8 a gallon here (US gallons) and having a 997 TT as well means that burning up fuel in a CTT as a daily driver is just not worth it for me.

My dealer has since rang to say that the ordering system is showing sold out on the pano roof for July build so he's going to check into it tomorrow. I think my build slot may fall back a month by the sound of things but I'd rather get the spec I want so it's not an issue.

They certainly can use some improvement. Around town I only get 8 to 10 MPG with my 2005 CTT. On the highway I can get 18 - 19 MPG if I go easy on the gas pedal.

    Re: 2008 S ordered

Nice spec, looked myself at options, but adding on that much the vehicle must be around Pounds80k here in UK

    Re: 2008 S ordered

Believe it or not it is just under Pounds70k to that spec. I had an update on the pano roof today. It seems that there is no more UK allocation for the current model year so it looks like I'll be moved to an August build when the factory comes back from the summer shutdown.
