    Update-rear end collission-Bodyshop pulling engine

    http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=335834&page=&fpart=1&vc=1

Just heard today that the bodyshop needs to pull the engine - there is damage to the rear panels and the engine has to come out.

They're sending pics soo - I'll post when I get them....

Bummer. My lease is up in Jan 08 ...

    What should I get?

Re: Update-rear end collission-Bodyshop pulling engine

    08 997S

Targa sounds great if you don't like a Cab.

More Pictures from the Bodyshop / update

Re: More Pictures from the Bodyshop / update

John, 08 will be here soon. By then you might be able to get into the newer facelifted 997S with more HP, better fuel economy, rear led lights and who knows maybe even PDK??? Sorry to hear about this unfortunate incident. Living in San Francisco anything can happen....too many lunatics around.

WTF? Sounds like a disaster about to unfold. The body shop will pull the engine? Does "Gomer" the mechanic have some special German-made crack to smoke while he pulls it out?

Geez: I barely trust the certified Porsche mechanic at the best Porsche deaklership in town.

SOB! what a predicament. Good thing for you the car is leased; bad thing for the new owner.

WELL - That's why I didn't take it to GOMER - I took it here

I'm glad you took it to a good place. Problem is I've had dealings most recently with "the best" places for yacht maintenance and I've found them screwing up. I mean it's tough to find "perfection." For exammple: What would you say if you visited your car during the repairs and saw your engine sitting there UNCOVERED in a dusty area of the body shop? In my imaginings, I'd sh*t nickels and they'd promptly get a tarp and cover it while I was there: "Gee thanks!" I'm skeptical of the claims made by even of the best places.

    Keep your eyes on them.

How will your Porsche warrenty hold up?

Re: Update-rear end collission-Bodyshop pulling en

Wow! I don't think we have a Porsche only body shop here and we have more Porsches in this area more than anywhere else in the world except maybe Germany.

How many Porsche dealers have their own bodyshop? I am also in the Chicago area and mine will be going to the bodyshop that the dealer does their work through.

My reservation is because the engine is being pulled in John SF's car by the body shop. He's found a good place to have the work done (God forbid I should have to find a good body shop where I keep _my_ car!).

UGH! Things like this you never really think about when you spend the us$100K. That and the fact that these cars might be a nightmare to own for more than five years makes leasing sound very good.

Do you have anyplace that you would recommend in Chicago? I am in the Naperville area, and if they are pulling his engine, then it is very safe to assume that they will be pulling it on my car (bumper was pushed down and in about 6"). Luckily the guy that hit my wife does have insurance, but I don't think that Safeway Insurance is going to be happy about this claim--especially since the car is 1 month old!
