I always go by this addage "most people don't care about their own car, so what makes you think they'll care about yours?" I park far away, and if i'm forced to park near people, I find the most expensive car in the lot and park next to it. If I were you I'd just take up two spots and keep an eye out for anyone trying to vandalize it. Unless you are at a place where parking is a premium, like in a city, most people tend to understand

Mmmh, that would p*ss me of as well...
What I cannot understand either is how people can act totally ignorant in traffic. Neither in a truck, an old vintage car or a brand new Porsche do I have the notion to skip the essential actions as using the indicators, check for other motorists to pass me or leave room if wanted.

IMO there is an increasing disparity between the haves and have nots that is only getting worse. So, this problem isn't going away.
BTW, taking two spots here in the US is almost a guaranteed recipe for someone doing something deliberate.
What's the answer? Drive a beater so you don't cause any animosity when necessary. Only drive the nice car when you are very comfortable that some i diot(can you believe they sensor this word?) isn't going to cause you grief. If you don't really care that much then be ready for whatever comes your way.
