    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

For me there is only one question:

To wait for X50(PK) for 997 turbo or not?

    Other things... Manual, LSD, PCCBs...

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

    very nice

But I think the Exhaust Tips are to small

My guess regarding the PK: First deliveries at year-end 2007 or beginning of 2008.

Given the uncertainty regarding PDK and potential effects of FL on 997TT I would consider waiting a bit

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

Let's just hope they start calling the people on their waiting list to get on with the options list, because I'm running out of patience.

What will be your reaction if it DOES get PSM?

With PSM I might like it

    Enough to sell the 599?

Let's wait and see As per today, I would expect a less than 10% probability for PSM in the 997GT2

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

So, you think it will be "Widow maker" again

    I truly hope NOT.

Regarding your wish about PSM-maybe it will be fullfilled!

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

Kreso, I suggest you 997 turbo with x50(including new pse for turbo),lsd, manual e no PCCB

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

No PCCB ? I Hope your kidding, the PCCB has been getting alot of compliments compared to the previous generations that didn't do well.

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

As I wrote in a another post a couple of weeks ago.... Had a talk with my dealer who is very reliable and informative. My dealer had a visit from Porsche in Germany and according to some info he gave me is that GT2 will get 530bhp and also come with PSM! He told me that purists would not like this because it should be a raw sports car without any helpsystems, but Porsche did decide to go this way and have probably come up with a feasible solution by adding PSM. GT2 will also only be offered as MANUAL and PDK will be introduced in facelift 997 Carrera/Carrera S that will be launched during the autumn this year. First customer delivery of faceliftet 997 will get to customers around November 2007 so it will not be available from start of the "normal" model year 2008...

Take this info for what it is, but I'm normally VERY critical to this type of info, but this time I beleive that the above stated will be fact... But we will know later this year

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

With the Turbo's 480 bhp being underrated (it's around 500), I can see the GT2 actually having 550 bhp.

Sooo... 550 bhp, PSM and PDK. Markus? Markus? Markus!

NO PDK. Just good old manual... Yes, GT2 will be manual only.

    PDK... ?!

First only in 997 Carrera models and Cayman/Boxster models AFAIK.
Later(read MY 2009) in 997 turbo as TIP replacement...

More then 700Nm is just too much currently for PDK...

Is it possible the GT2 engineers have taken a tip from the 430 engineers and incorporated an electronic LSD (E-diff) so that PSM can be used?

And if the GT2 gets PSM, would the 430 Lite Pasta also receive E-diff and CST?

530hp and PSM would still do the trick

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

PSM can be turned off with a click of a button even though it might be running in the background, but in the end it will save your butt from screwing up around corners

This 911 better be loud and clear @ Idle and Full throttle.

Am I the only one who thinks the Carrera S is louder than the turbo ?

    Agreed,

Especially after you tune the car up to 600HP/800+Nm.

Does the Le Mans/GTR kit have caliper dust seals for road use? And does the master cylinder or any other parts need to be changed to retain correct pedal travel and ABS function?

They squeal like pigs being slaughtered, according to people who have them on the 996 Turbos. They aren't a true road brake (that would be the GT kit, but it is much heavier). The PCCB is the best choice by far.

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

the Le Mans kit is different from GTR kit!

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

For $23 you can pick up a Box of 200 Pairs of ear plugs, I think it's not bad

No web site,is a porsche motorsport product.I know that this kit has titanium parts

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

I've heard the same, car will have around 530-550, psm, but no pdk.... =(

Pdk will show up on facelift of the carreras' first before anything.

According to this link, some GTR calipers have ventilated titanium piston inserts:

    http://www.rogueengineering.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=B

A customer who wants to use either these calipers or the 997 RSR motorsport calipers on the street would have to obtain dust boots to prevent the pistons from seizing and the piston seals from degrading leading to fluid leaking.

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

I haven't followed the thread all that long (at least not as long as it has grown). But wanted to post this.

It's crude (used paintbrush not photoshop), but I like it...
