Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    Some information I got today:

New DI-engines will come after the summer holidays which means around September. Of course they will get a slight power increase, but main focus is on a better milage.

Most likely we will see those new engines together with the small optical changes of the facelift like LED-lights at the rear and new bumpers front and rear.

Unfortunately no word about PDK yet, so it's possible we will see that feature soonest in 2008.

    Any idea of how much more HP ?... 20 ? 25 ? 15 ?

What about the Power kit ? Will it stull be available and with how much HP ?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    hmm

My dealer keeps repeating to me it'll be only MY2009 when the facelift will arrive...

Anyway, decided to delay delivery and Get a MY2008, so when it's 2008 I'll be ok, when it's 2009, bad luck, I'm not waiting For another Year, so be it

I'd say 20 to 25 horses more will be the best bet. A power figure around 380 for the Carrera S seems to be right. Question is, if you really will feel the difference. As I said the main focus is on fuel reduction, so maybe we will see the advanced DI-technology with all the benefit for milage, but the car won't be that much quicker although it has some more horses.

I didn't ask about the power kit, sorry, so no info about that.

    AMEN!
I think your dealer is not telling you the truth about the date of the arrive of the facelift. He only wants to sell you the model that is up to date today.
Money, money, money ... it's so funny... in a rich mans world!

    Lets make a little bet!

That does not make sense at all !!!
1/ I know this dealer very well and he would not tell a lie to me. He has no news for any major model changes in MY08.
2/ As Lou just stated he already delayed his order to MY08. So they have NOTHING to gain by lying.

I think words like "lying, dishonest, etc" should not be used without proof and certainly not regarding rumors. It discredits the person who uses them so lightly.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    Agree with 993S...

in fact what would be the point of them not saying the truth?
they know it will destroy a (possible) long-term relationship.

anyway, I chose to delay untill MY2008, so the gain nothing by hiding anything.

the only possibility I see is that they also are wrong, but to be honest I don't believe that tey are kept out of the loop...

so the facelift will come MY2009 (makes sense, since the Boxster/cayman get's a facelift MY2008...)

    Hi 993S and loe!

I very sorry for the words I used. I don't know your dealer and I don't want to discredit this person or any other person at all. Sorry for that!

    Excursus:
I have had a dealer, that interfered this impression to me.
It was not long ago, when I told him, that the 997 Targa will come and that it will get the wider "hips". He only told me, that there won't be any Targa of the 997 at all. After the reveal of the Targa I certainly thought of his words and of his purpose only to sell.

    Greetings

Rossi, I'm like really praying every night that you are right!!

I desperatly want the fuel economy

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    Guys... bad news

Rossi brought me on the idea to ask someone I know at the distributor of the DI System. I asked him bout the release date. He came back 3 hours later and said DI serial production for 3.6 and 3.8 ltr Boxer will start in September 2008. He should really know as he is directly in R&D of this department.

I know, this is controverse to previous informations we had.

    Just getting more confusing

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    ai...

    that's bad news...

    HAHAH

Restyling will be in September 2008 so,you have the car new for at least an year and a few months...instead of only a few months..

I'm joking.. (here a lot of people know how much i hate restyling)

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    yep

and who cares about fuel economy anyway

Well, that happened to me. Last summer I was told by "my" dealer that there was no 3.4l engine for the Boxster S from model 2007 onwards... even though he had got all the information, price list, etc. He had a new 3.2l demo he wanted to sell to me instead. I ended up buying a used 3.2l from another dealer...

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

According to my (what I think) reliable source...
    Bhp-bump 20+hp for carrera/carrera S which means:
345 for Carrera (to keep it below current S)
375 for Carrera S (to keep it below current S with Powerkit)
First deliveries of facelifted C2/C2S with LED-lights and bhp-bump in November 2007 as modelyear 2008. Perhaps press-release at IAA Frankfurt.
What bothers me is the DI-thing that according to Lars996 not will be introduced until sept. 2008. Does it make sence to bump HP bifore introducing DI-engines.. that should really take place at one shot

You are correct - I would expect only one engine change, not two in two years...

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Guys.... Sorry there was some missunderstanding. My contact was writing 2008 in his email, so I guessed September 2008. But after a chat last night he was sending a email with this informations:

    - 04/2008 3.6/3.8 DI
    - 04/2009 911 Turbo DI
    - 04/2011 brandnew 911

    hope this makes it clearer!

    bad news..

i prefer the one of yesterday..

But this one is not so bad and seems more accurate,in fact DI for the Turbo(and restyling i suppose) is right for the Turbo in mid 2009,in fact mine will be 3 years old and is time to take the new one..

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    hehe

Now that's good news , no Darius

That would suit me.... and it makes sence too.

The Turbo would then become the Turbo S I suppose...

Ahh, that's fine. So that means I'll change the Carrera S for a Targa 4S in spring next year.

Let's hope the PDK will be ready by that time.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

New photos. Bad news. Targa Restyling:
