    Remember about the problems that I mentioned in my recent PM to you?

    Audi dissapoints...

    It seems to me that R8 "Cake" was little bit too big for them...

    Yes, you did.

    BUT, my point is that I did expect little bit more serious approach by Audi, NOT BS like things:
    -most R8 options(Cermics, Piano Black interior trim, etc) delayed
    -R8 deliveries delayed for few weeks
    -limited(!!!) number of R8s in first production run will get CF engine bay

    It looks to me that new M3 buyers will get their cars(with all options) before R8 costumer that ordered Ceramic Brakes on his R8...

    kreso, the number of ferrari that went up in smoke is a little higher. Ferrari should have get the problem fixed by 50 years, so why haven't they?

    In addition, audi owns lambo and made the gallardo. So they also have some experience and know what they're doing.

    Anyway, with 500bhp or more, these cars are becoming like real race cars. Fragile and very flammable. Don't why though.

    This is a big leap for Audi into a total new market. I doubted that they would succeed to transgress with very few hiccups.

    Kreso, what kinds of problems is Audi having? Below-average performance? Reliability? Manufacturing difficulties?

    Well, it does have low production numbers, is expensive and now it goes up in flames. It would appear that Ferrari, Lambo and the R8 are sharing the same DNA .

    I think it's better it happened on the test and not after releasing the car,
    and an innocent driver get burn alive in it..

    Ah i agree that part of course, i just try to touch the brand reputation point.

    I mean just think you are a R8 potential buyer , hessitated to buy 997GT3 or R8 but then decided R8

    How is it possible to entire car burns out?
    Aluminium body burns out that way?

    I am not sure about this... And look at front tires-they did not burn out totally...

    So, why did complete body of this R8 test mule burn out?

    Potential answer-complete body of this test mule was made out of Carbon Fiber...

    Carbon fiber will burn out like that. Remember that the epoxy resins utilized will definitely support combustion. As for what it may say about Audi reliability; there is a reason that they call preproduction vehicles prototypes.

    Context was that 599 is made from aluminium as is R8...
    So, point was that alu body is more prone to burning out.

    As crash pointed out, this is a 599. I believe this incident took place in Germany a few months back.

    ...maybe the fire was as result of a testing crash. This car was not equiped with racing fuel cells.
