My New Toy!!!
I was particularly amazed at the gearing. I knew the car was geared very long, but until you drive one for a while you don't realize how long. I got the car up to 59mph in first gear. I am sure you could hit 60. BUT what really amazed me was that I hit 90mph in SECOND! I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see if for myself. My former Z06 would have been HEAVY into 3rd at 90mph.
Even though my track car had bigger sway bars and stiffer suspension, on a back country road I was easily hitting 1.2G on street tires. I can't wait to see what this thing does on R compounds.
The brakes were very good and I was pleasently suprised, as I have heard both negative and positive things about them. The real test will be at the track, and then I will see how they hold up after 5 30 minute sessions. But at the very least, the stopping force was as strong as my C5Z06 with custom wilwood racing calipers.
I was suprised how smooth the car drove for how low it comes from the factory. I think it needs to come down about 1/2 and inch to tighten up some of the body roll.
The car was a 2LZ and came with NAV, Bose, XM, heated seats, memory package, and all the electronic goodies. I was on the line about this stuff as usually I am a purest, but the price was right as I got the car for the same price as a 1LZ, so I took it.
The car is very wide and the tires are huge (325/30/19). R compounds won't be cheap, but that is the way it goes sometimes.
I was pleasently suprised at the interior and it looks much better in person than in photo's.
I don't like the rims as every Z06 around has either polished rims or chrome. I liked the comp grey, but they are impossible to find. I think I am going to get some custom black 3 peice rims and use the stocker for the track.
I now have to order a new harness bar, brake pads, rims and track tires. I am also waiting for my hitch so I can trailer my tires behind me to the track.
Oh...and after 3 black corvettes, 2 blue cars, and 1 red, I just HAD to do the victory yellow....
