    Carrera S Track Tires?

    Anyone have recommendations for track only tires besides the Michelin Pilot Cups? I have a set of them on track-dedicated wheels now, and they're OK (frankly, I thought that the grip would be far better than the standard PS2's, but to me the grip seems about the same but they just stick around a little longer during lapping sessions), but figured I'd see if anyone things anything else is worth trying. I definitely need something with an R compound. Kumhos? Hoosiers? I'd love to hear specifics and a comparison to the Cups if possible.

    cups should have a noticable difference n grip compared to ps2. what was the temp/weather, hot tire pressure were you getting? it might be that the did not reach optimal temp.

    hoosires have more grip than cups.

    Hoosiers are great, but not really street drivable to the track. A few people have, but I would not.

    Toyos RA1s (and now the nittos) are great tires, and come in 18" sizes perfect for the 997S and GT3 (of course you'll need 18" wheels).

    I'm not a big fan of the Pirellis over the MPSCs.

    I've played with tire pressures, and have them on the track in everything from cool (50f)/damp to 80f/sunny. I've landed at 23/25 cold with about 10 degrees increase when hot. Thoughts?

    hot tire pressure seems in the right range. only other thing i could think of is camber setting. with stock suspension you would not be able to get enough camber in the front for the tires to work well (-2 to -2.5 deg. deending on your driving/track).

    Interesting. Have you used both the Cups and Pirellis? If so, how would you compare them?

    That's interesting. I didn't like the 18" Corsas as much as 18" PSCs on my 996 GT3.

    I've had a good experience also with PZero Corsas (19s) on a 997S at the track. Quite progressive at the limit and better than expected durability.

    Can a 265 tire on a 9 x 18" fit in the front of a 997 2S?

    I'm hoping to use the Toyo R888; 255/35R18 fronts with 315/30R18 or 295/30R18 rears. What is the widest we can install in a 2S without mods or rubs? Anyone try different sizes or is everyone just staying with the OEM sizes?? I've ran 265s all around in my M3 and handling is great.

    HaHaha, no hard core racing, just fun lapping or DEs. After I get good in my 2S then a GT3.

    For those who believe the Corsa is the best tire, they are wrong. In fact it is the worse. See the review from autobild.

    I wear Michellin Cups but I don't like them since they wear out quickly. 20.000km lifespan with normal driving isn't very good. Unfortunately I wear 295/30/19 and I don't have many choices

    What is the proper 18" wheel size and offset we should get for a C2S? I am also interested in the tire sizes above.

    I am using CCW Wheels...www.ccwheels.com I have the C14's. My sizes are 18x9 front and 18x12 rear with Toyo RA1 2450-40-18 front and 305-35-18 rear. Lots of guys I track with use these whells and tire sizes on C2S 997's and new GT3's.

    kw, I do not have the paperwork with me on the offsets. I have a little less offset (wheels come out more) than stock. John at CCW wheels www.ccwheels.com gave me the same offset as the GT3 cars and through some testing he has widened the track a little. I do not need spacers either.

    Isn't a 12" wheel a bit too wide for a 305 tire? Is an 11 better?

    You always want to use the widest wheel possible (within the recommended range of the manufacturer). 12" is best in this case (Toyo recommends 10-12").
