I don't follow your train of thought. Are you saying the quoted weight is satisfactory or that it's heavy.
Personally from my perspective I bemoan the way that successive generations of cars become heavier. I would prefer technology to be applied to counteract this, so it's always a shame to see a car gain in weight especially since the engine was 15kg lighter than the E46 M3s.

Yes, I thought it would be. BMW claimed it would be impressive and I have no doubt they tried very hard, but it is a shame that all those talented engineers efforts will not be valued. Most people will just look at the figures and assume that the engineering is lazy and they could have done better.
I may perhaps be joining EVO in a few months to run a comparison test against its competitors, so I will get to see how it drives and ideally compare it against my M3 CSL. I have one on order myself, and would intend to use it as a daily driver but I'm actually inclined to choose a darker colour that hides the CF roof, because compared to my CSL the use of lightweight materials seems a little fake.
I am sure it drives well, but I always want my cars to be lighter..

I am tempted by that Melbourne Red, I have always wanted to own a red car but never like the colours I have seen. I also quite like the Jerez Black and then of course Interlagos Blue which I already own on a Z4M Coupe. Not sure about the greys since I already own my CSL in Silver Grey. Might be best to go for something really different.

I'd guess the RS5 would pack a serious punch if it arrives, Audi have to offer it with more grunt than the RS4 given it's the model up.

Yes, that may be true. However a fancy, frilly, fabulous, over-freeking-designed vent-embellishment is not "aesthetic" as far as I, a BMW owner since I learned to drive, had in mind.

I dunno. My belief is they are taking the "boy-racer" route. Like focus-grouping to see what 20-30 y.o. hotrodders would like the car to look like.
I believe they tend to like aggressive reptilian-looking cars.
To me it's a low mentality; excusable because of youthful inexperience and psychological impact of repeated hormonal surges.
