    Help '03 Boxster

4 kids and 8 years later, I finally purchased my first Boxster. Absolutely love it!!! I love the color yellow and currently the entire interior is black. I would like to make some changes to dress up the car. I definitely want to change the gauge face plates from black to yellow. FVD had all but the right mph. Mine goes to 150. Any suggestions on where I can get these?

Also any other suggestions on changes that would look good but not over kill. I do not want the entire inside yellow. Thought about console but wasnt sure how it would look.

Also does anyone have any spoilers on their older boxster that provided a great look. I saw a neat side skirt.

    Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks,

    MP

    Re: Help '03 Boxster

Welcome to Rennteam and congratulations on your purchase, have many safe and exciting hours. Spoilers, skirts, aerokits etc just ruin the shape and make the car look like a boy-racer special rather than a pedigree sports car, but that's just my opinion for what it's worth. Yellow centre console would look good with the all black interior, but I'm not so sure about yellow dials.

    Re: Help '03 Boxster

welcome to rennteam! great looking boxster you got there

I definitely agree with dreamcar, don't get the spoilers unless you wanna make your car look boy-racer-ish. It's because the boxster already comes with a pop-up spoiler in the rear.
so i'll say keep the car the way it is now and maybe get yellow seat belts or the yellow dials prolly won't go wrong.

    Re: Help '03 Boxster

Thought about the yellow seat belts but heard they get dirty quickly and then does not look good. Saw a boxster with the yellow dials and it looked great.

Thanks on the input with regards to the spoilers.

    Re: Help '03 Boxster

Thanks for your input. Here is a pic with the yellow dials. I think it would look great.

    RUF RUF

I have a RUF 3600S, which includes RUF springs, wheels, and a body kit, and I think it REALLY transforms a somewhat bland design into a much more aggressive, exotic look. Sitting low on wider rubber, the inherent strengths of the Boxster's lines come out more. Granted, you have to watch what you drive over, and you have to pay the RUF entry fee.

    Re: RUF RUF

I would leave the car as it is. If you want to change dials go for the white ones. With Porsche less is more except for HP

    Re: RUF RUF

Do you have a pic of it?

    Thanks,

    Re: RUF RUF

I thought about that but do not think the white would look good with the yellow body. I am going to take some pics this weekend and then adjust the colors in photoshop and see what it looks like.

    THanks,

    Re: RUF RUF

I love the yellow / black combo I am from the "less is more" way of thinking. I feel small discrete additions are the way to go. To many add-ons cheapens the overall quality.
Just my opinion - Good luck, be safe.

    Re: RUF RUF

Try http://bumperplugs.com/ they have great options for dressing up your new Boxster..

    Enjoy that beautiful Porsche!!!

    Re: RUF RUF

I think the yellow rear console is your best bang for the buck. I did mine with Eric from BumperPlugs.com, I just picked him based on reviews and I am thrilled. The quality of work was amazing. I have no relation to that company, just wanted to get some colour in my 987. The 986 interior really needs the console painting more so and when I looked at a 986 I was going to order it with your colour combo with a yellow console from the factory. I would only do things that were offered by the factory because I like it original. You picture looks really nice, love the colours!

    Re: RUF RUF

I actually know Eric personally and he is a stand up guy. You will not go wrong with him. I have looked at the console but was unsure if I would like the finished results. Do you have a pic of your interior? Do you not think the yellow dials would look good? It would have to be outsourced.

    Re: RUF RUF

Yellow on black.. awesome! I added a GT3 front bar and speedster humps. The front bar, whilst looking great, does scrape a lot! I also had the centre console painted (aftermarket) however found that it scratched easily, especially if you rest your arm next to the hand brake.

    Re: RUF RUF

    That looks cool .

Do you have any other angles with it? What about pics of the front bar and center console?

    Would love to see it.

Has anyone ever thought of hard top? I saw one and it looked good but do not think I would ever use it since I only drive this car when its nice out. Then I also would have to worry about storage of top.

    Send me more pics.

    Re: RUF RUF

I can give you a great price on a set of speedster humps if you are interested. (Private message me)

    Re: RUF RUF

White and yellow 986 with GT3 bars for comparison. FYI, the bars are a straight fit but I would recommend removing the plastic chin spoiler.
I'll need to get a pic of the centre console and will post later.

    Re: RUF RUF

    Real NICE

Cant wait to see center console. Try and take the pic so I can the whole interior and not just the console so I can see the entire look.

Also if you can take some other pics of your speedster hump at different angles that would be great.

    Thanks,

    Re: RUF RUF

I don't personally like the yellow dials, I think it is a bit too much. I don't mind the white dials and have thought about the yellow seat belts but I don't like the thought of them getting soiled.

I really think the rear console is the way to go especially in a 986 like yours with the yellow exterior. Eric's work is incredible, I couldn't be happier.

    Re: RUF RUF

Here is another picture. Try to ignore the rubber winter mats.

    Re: RUF RUF

I should probably add that I have not had any issues with scratching or marks on my console, but I try to never touch any painted surfaces to avoid any micro scratches etc. Good luck with your decision to upgrade your vehicle. Deciding what to do is a big part of the fun!

    Re: RUF RUF

Looks good but not sure I am a big fan of it. It seems like something is missing. I think the yellow belts would look great but heard they get dirty quickly and they are not cheap.

Check out all the yellow in this car.

    Re: RUF RUF

I think the pedals look AWESOME. I think I will do that for sure.

Agree 100 percent. Unless you are in a serious street racer culture and are out cruzin' every night with maximum peer pressure there's little need to modify the car's looks.

It's a slipperey slope and eventually you'll start thinking you could do this:
