This is more difficult to swallow than the TT, especially the rear. I think the TT's rear is much better.

I wager that the TT rear bumper will be a popular 'upgrade' for the GT2.

    Yeah,

If I ordered a 997GT2, I would immediately take it to a body shop and cut out the vertical louvres from the tail and put in horizontal louvres (or a metal screen), then get rid of, once and for all, those Techart slats from the side intakes. I DO LOVE the front though.

I'm a sucker for phat rears and have to agree with you on that point. The TT has a more mean looking ass. Lets just wait for more pictures.

You all forget something though... You dont buy a GT2 for the appearance...

    Very true, that!

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

The GT2 is a supercar that defines every 911 available from the 997 tree. (I wouldn't replace any part from the exterior and downgrade to the turbo)

This is a "MUST" have 911.

Aisxos, how are you satisfied with the Turbo?

    I like it too.

Unlike the 997TT, the GT2 isn't for everyone.

    This car has special character.

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

My only hesitation is that if i am going to buy the GT2, I wont be able to sell it here in Greece. I couldnt even sell my GT3, so I traded it with Porsche and even the dealer after 2 years didnt managed to sell it!!
On the other hand I am thinking of paying more money that a new GT2 and buy a used Carrera GT which for me is THE DREAM car..

That would certainly be better than the GT2 !

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

I've been thinking about the gt2 for a little while now and unavoidably I think the rear bumper is a failure. I'll tell you why:

-The design structure of a car, even a functional supercar such as the GT2 which is more about performance than presence, must be wholistic and gestalt. Clearly if aesthetics are compromised, any car company can create a vehicle with optimal performance, as a result of the physics/dimensions. However, when one buys a Porsche or a Lambo or a Ferrari etc... there is a sense of design and engineering philosophy that should be imbued in the apperance, the feel, the performance etc...
-The new GT2, simply based upon these spy shots, looses that connection (as a result of the horrendous rear bumper) and falls more into the category of aftermarket fanatic tuner (e.g. Gemballa).

This seems like an awful lot for Porsche to ask from its customers who are about to lop down 200 grand...unacceptable imo

I think the GT2 is not the right car for you.

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

Well, the Slats are horrendous, but they should have let the vertical slats re-appear in the front and side intakes... that ties it all up a bit. Still looks bad, but at least the design is consistent.

I will see the numbers first 0-100, 0-200 and then I will tell you...

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

Could totally be a random rumor, but a porsche tech i was talking to the other day said he's heard things in a training meeting from a tech that came over from germany that the car might have around 640hp.... fastest production p ever built. He's also heard talk of them introducing pdk, but who knows, just something i heard. Can't wait to see final pics regardless!

Lol... Yes Porsche discovered that by saying lies (Tip 997tt 0-100 in 3.7 ) sell more...

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

640hp means a slight bump in price too, 640hp for $200k is a Noway from Porsche factory $500k+ might sound right

And I'll be downgrading to GT3 if that ever happens

I'm really warming up to the rear. This car is going to be awsome and the rims look great on it.

    Nice find kreso .

I really like the rear and front bumper much better than the turbo (no offense to 997TT owners, personal taste).

I think Porsche needs to take more radical design initiatives as such, at least that's what sales in the U.S..

    Re: 997 GT2 is coming...more details

I think we will get used to the back bumper. It already looks better then in the first pics. Maybe the silver color helps to tone it down.

Like we say in Holland: geef mijn portie maar aan fikkie... you can feed my share to the dogs... design-wise. That's one ugly soab.
