    DaveC:

Just got word that my .2 GT3 PTS was approved.  However looks like April/May build with June/July delivery. Not so bad since I am still enjoying my .2 C2S. I was pretty hot for the Touring Package but rumors seem to have it morphing into more than just a wing delete which doesn't appear to be what I am seeking.  Well by the time I get fthe car all will have long been revealed. By the way went with 226 lindgrun aka chartreuse.  Acid green stitching and piping (18 way) on seat w/ acid green GT3 on headrests. Lot of people asking for carbon fiber for the black satin accents (CXX) but evidently no has been the consistent answer. Might look good, might be too much?

    Congrats, Dave! Should look amazing!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I'm still waiting to see if I can secure a 991.2 GT3 from my OPC. The DP seems to have changed three times since I bought my car so not sure if I'll be successful despite 10+ cars and all associated service/maintenance at the same OPC. Would love for it to be PTS as it'd be a keeper (never had a GT car before).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

A couple of days ago I saw a Birch Green Turbo cab. It looked fabulous. I am kicking myself for not going for PTS. But to be honest, having to pay $13,000 to paint a car which is already painted and not knowing if and when you can get it painted is offensive to me. I refuse to bend over and grab my ankles just to get the paint color I want.enlightened

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Truthfully it was not difficult to secure an allocation or the PTS. I am a very long term customer of my dealer but I am certainly no Porsche VIP. The process is long and not inexpensive but it is a custom order and that never comes without added expense. At least so far this .2 go around has been straightforward and pain free, not like the ,1 GT3 experience whatsoever. Of course, the day is still young.........................

somewhat related to that - how are you treated when trading in a PTS car, knowing how traditionally conservative the dealers are for cars they order for their own inventory?   I could, for example, see the PTS premium disappearing into a discount if the sales manager starts along the lines... I think everything sells at the right price. My dealer and I get along because I don't expect to make money on cars and he doesn't practice medicine. PTS is like anything else, the first buyer makes the choice and more often than not pays the price to acquire and to sell.Cars are a hobby and source of pleasure for me so I expect to pay to play. Once a car is treated as an investment it inevitably losses all or part of its raison d'etre because thrashing a sports car and maintaining  "investment grade" are often mutually exclusive.

My  inspiration for the PTS was Graham Rahal's 911R.  Chartreuse is a little softer than birch green and a little more yellow with olive under some lighting.

It's time to make the GT3 motor the base motor and scrap all the little Turbo 3 liters.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

    yes please

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I believe this is the 911T reported some time ago here and I also believe it was reportedly to have the turbo 3L.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

    no interest if turbo.

somewhat goes against Porsche comments to make the cars more exciting?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

If they make it 3.0L turbo they better get their umbrellas out cause "purist" and 3.0L Turbo do not go in the same sentence, will be seen as a sell-out, not to mention the inevitable comparison to the 991R which does have the NA engine of the GT3, which will further place this version in a worse position image wise.

They have a fantastic engine now in the GT3.2, doesn't make sense not to use it in such a car, a purist car for sheer driving pleasure as they are describing it, its not like they are not going to sell less units than with the 3.0L Turbo engine, and probably at a higher profit margin per unit too.

I agree, but purists are hard to satisfy. If the GT3 4L starts turning up several variants (Speedster, Sport Classic, Touring Package, 911T) the complaints will center around the "dilution of the GT brand". Smiley

True, but using the even more common 3.0L Turbo shared with the entire Carrera line would please them even less then Smiley

Just make the GT3 engine optional in all models. $30,000 powerkit.

If this were an option how much should Porsche charge for it?

Pretty sure price difference for buying spare engine is much higher than $30k between 4.0 and 3.0...

Just buying GT3 makes more sense...

Main problem with making 4.0L available as an option in every model is it will ruin the average fuel consumption and emissions ratings for the company...
