    RUF 997 RGT

    Hey guys,

I have seen a RUF 997 RGT and OMG that's a hell of a car.

That's the best looking Porsche I have even seen!

It was a RUF version GT3RS and the price is very expensive.

I guess the price is close to the new GT2 maybe?

Anyone here have driven a RUF and I want to know your comments.

I know RGT and GT2 are two different car.

If you gonna pick one, which one would you pick?

For me, I perfer the look of the RGT and the power of the turbo!

However, the engine in the RGT is the best N/A!

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

Know where can we get some good pics?

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

BTW, it looks like kit car IMHO...

    More about RGT:
"The RUF RGT was inspired by the legendary 1973 Carrera RS.

The high revving, normally aspirated, engine is based on the crankcase of the original 911-engine. It is equipped with dry-sump lubrication with a separate oil tank to ensure a reliable oil supply for the engine, even at high cornering speeds. The 3.8 litre engine has a high compression ratio of 12.0 : 1. The output of 445 hp (327 kW) is reached at 7,600 rpm. The maximum torque of 420 Nm abuts at the crankshafts at 5,100 rpm. The RGT is equipped with the variable camshaft system. This enables an optimization of power, torque and consumption across the complete power band by a rotation speed dependent and load-dependent adjustment of the intake camshafts. The variable aspirated engine features two resonance flaps to balance the air for an ideal filling of the cylinders. The connecting rods are made of light, high-strength titanium. A digital engine electronic, i. e. a motronic with drive by wire, undertakes the task of engine management. The RGT engine captivates with its spontaneous response behaviour and its distinct revving ability.

The RGT will be delivered in rear-wheel-drive and 6 speed transmission with limited slip differential and short shift kit serially.

The independent front suspension combines McPherson struts with aluminium links. The strut suspension forms a unit with the front axle cross member, the sway bar and the steering gear. The rear axle assembly consists of sub frame-mounted multi-link suspension, featuring LSA construction. This design is another important factor in the car's responsive driving dynamics. The sports suspension is adjusted for road traffic as well as for track use by the help of especially adjusted Bilstein gas shock absorbers and chassis springs.

The brake system consists of red-painted monobloc callipers and ventilated, cross drilled brake discs. The monobloc callipers are made of one piece. The front discs have a measure 350 millimetres in diameter with 6 piston brake callipers. The rear brake discs have a diameter of 330 millimetres and 4 callipers. The RGT is serially equipped with a stability management with ABS, ASR and ABD.

The three-piece 19'' "Superleggera" aluminium wheels are equipped with a very light forged centre piece. The front wheels have a width of 8.5'' and the rear wheels 12.5''. Tires of 235/35 ZR 19 are mounted in the front and 325/30 ZR 19 in the rear.

A prominent aerodynamic feature at the front of the RGT is the bumper with the five air intakes. Incoming air through the big air intakes on the outside and in the centre flows against the water coolers of the engine. Two additional small air intakes channel the air to the brakes. A black narrow vent is located ahead of the front deck lid. Incoming air is channelled through the centre radiator. The aerodynamically optimized exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable and heatable. The mirror base and housing are available upon request in carbon fibre. The two aluminium doors with integrated side protection bars save 14 kilograms. Wider glass fibre fender flares screwed to the body allow the use of bigger wheel and tire combinations. The rear lid painted in body colour with the adjusted duck tail consists of Kevvlar Carbon fibre. The rear spoiler that is mounted to the duck tail is made of visible Carbon fibre.

The standard RGT Coupé is equipped with an integrated roll cage which is covered almost entirely by the Alcantara of the A, B and C pillar. The crossbar can be demounted."

    Thanks Niiiice. Purrrrrfect:

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

That's the colour of my 914!

    The 70's are BACK!!!

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

I got bored with my 997S so I shipped it back to Germany,--this time to Alois Ruf so that they could doctor it a bit. Welded on a roof, and then went to town on it. All I have it this 'baby picture' while they were testing it!

    (Just kidding!)

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

I would like some RGT treatment on my 997S cabs engine

Yeah, how much for just the engine? IOW, trade my 997S engine for the 445 HP unit? (also get whatever _essentials_ are required).

Hummmm, Might be a better way to go insted of trading it in and buying the Turbo.

Dan L- Alois Ruf's stealing your moves!..... that's your paint to sample!!! That Ruf looks wicked bad-a$$.

I haven't made a magazine run to Barnes & Noble in awhile, few months ago I read about Ruf RT12-- is that turquoise car a current article in which magazine?

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

First of all, the RGT engine was based on the GT1 block, which is same as the GT3 and not CS.

If the price are the same as the 997 GT2, which one do you perfer?

Also just wondering what's the exact name of that green and that blue here?

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

    The green is Viper green.

I think the blue is a 964 blue?

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

    Hey guys,

    Anyone gonna answer my question?

If this is same price as the new GT2, which one do you perfer and why?

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

^^ Would have to drive them both to know. Please let me know where I sign up for this.

A friend of mine submitted his Cayman to Alois Ruf back in 2006 (June) for modification to Ruf standards. He's been back for their fall tour and came back with several prints of other cars getting the treatment (including 911s). That was one that got my attention. Ruf is doing brighter colors than what normally comes out of the factory. My Blue Turquoise was a 1996-97 color for the 993 cars and early Boxsters.

    Re: RUF 997 RGT

To be fair, I think RUF or Porsche will do any color you want. Just as long as you supply the $$$.
