I beg to differ. I owned a 993 until Feb this year and it came with a fold away key. My 996 T has just arrived with a conventional key. Just wondering why the change
My 993 also had a fold away key.
The 996 key is less bulky and with a rounded shape to be "trouser pocket friendly". I actually like it very much.
My Cayenne key is extremely bulky and heavy, my pocket looks horrible when I put it inside. I wish Porsche would have found something less bulky, less heavy are more stylish for the Cayenne but I guess they had to use the VW solution.
I also liked my Mercedes E55 key...it was pretty light, not so big and it had all the electronics incorporated, incl. keyless go.
Today's electronics would make a pretty tiny key possible but apparently car manufacturers don't want it...or taking your post in consideration, maybe customers don't want it.
