    Extremely fast!!

    The 997 was sitting on near 300kph for well over a minute and still nowhere near the RS4.

    Ron,

    RS4 is stock, just with quattro Gmbh delimiter(280km/h).

    BUT, point is that guy in RS4 is better driver then the one in 997 Carrera. Also RS4 started little bit earlier...

    This is real life difference... Better driver is always the faster one...

    RS4 is as fast in straight line as 997 Carrera S...
    Back to this video-with both drivers at the same level it could be a very close race...

    We have people like that around here too (Romania).

    I wish to meet them on a track, with a GT3.
    I've seen RUF Turbo's slower than a GT3 on a track, so the RS4 has zero chance as far as I am concerned.

    But you are correct, it all depends on the driver too.
    Still I dislike people that want just straight line performance (turbo, automatic gearboxes, tuning, heavy right foot but God forbid to have some twisted road ahead them).

    I wonder on a track if a good driver riding a 997 standard can kick some RS4 but or not ...

    The RS4 is one fast saloon, if only my clutch worked properly half the time

    That means my Exige S is as quick as a Carrera S up to 130mph Kind of funny that seeing that the car is only a 1.8 litre!

    There's nothing wrong with "racing" on a highway, it's the stopping part that puzzles me.

    I don't think it is a Carrera S, just a normal 997 C2. So with almost 100 bhp difference, it is understandable.

    But this distance seem so much, i think Carrera jumped later than RS4. That was a great video.

    Was Carrera stuck at 297kph.

    I would like to see Carrera 4S vs RS4 video between equal style drivers. Maybe Mike can enlighten us.

    Carrera S CAB or RS4 ??

    You can also spec the chrono to be black if you wanted. So I guess that is also not an accurate either

    Mike, this is normal 997 Carrera(325hp) with optional PASM, SC and 19"...

    Belive me RS4 is in good hands as fast as 997 Carrera S(355hp). Faster ones are 997 Carrera S(X51, 381hp), 997 GT3/GT3RS and 997 turbo. M5/M6 are also faster in straight line...

    Point is to all Audi sceptics-this RS4 is fast indeed. And R8 is faster then RS4...

    I like the car, but it is going to cost a lot over here! Probably around the $220k and upwards mark. Also the Audi dealerships are the worst looking (out of BMW, MB) - wouldn't be too convinced they are capable of maintaining the car if their workshops looks like they currently do.

    If it costed the same as it did in the US - I would have seriously considered it.

    IMO it cost 220k euro same as 997 GT3, M6 and 30k expensive than a 997 C4S. IMO price would be the first disadvantage of R8

    idd black dials and it is stated that a 997 (not S) is present.
    But even : from 355 hp to 420 ... still a big difference!

    Trust me, the difference will be huge. The RS4 gets the jump, accelerates hard before the 911 does and just keeps on pulling, harder than the 911, due to 100 more bhp. Perfectly reasonable.

    This video is all over Croatian newspaper and driver even get the short interview...

    Police in Croatia is know very interested to find out who are this guys... Chief of Police even said "we will do anything to put them down!"

    Oh, yes! Send them to prison for endangering the asphalt. I see envy is fine and well in all of Europe. If the chief of police had a car like this he'd be doing it all day with the interior minister .

    Somehow I agree with you to some point...

    But, problem is "Pimp" like attitude that this guys are presenting... Talk like(you will understand it!): "Ajmo na Pijaču posle trke!" is really interested...

    Yeah, let's take some E with Red Bull and few bears, this stuff will definitely improve our driving style!

    We have pretty decent Grobnik race track here, but most of this guys are not even interested... Because most of them would put their cars on the roof in Zagreb curve on this race track!

    ...and when they get smoked by tuned Toyota Supra Better not to see their faces...

    You're right. Actually, I would derestrict the European autobahns, but as a driver, you would have to complete some comprehensive driver's education training, including track time. If the instructors don't consider you fit for it, you don't get the advanced permit. That would weed out the boy racers.
