Just commit to a White 997 with SC....

Is it a bad decision? I was told my the dealer that it doesn't really affect the quickness of the car. The car will have more torque but not Hp, he proved it with the brochure. Also, he said if the car with SC is faster, the website or they would know. He said that porsche never said that the car with SC is faster then the car without?

are you kidding ? of course it has more HP but not peak HP and how can an extra 50 pound of torque not affect acceleration? I suggest you go drive a car with the sport button on an off and you'll see the difference, not to mention all the other stuff you get with the SC. This is the only must have option.

Re: Just commit to a White 997 with SC....

IMHO yes you did a (big) mistake...I certainly hope it is still time to repare it...

Gt silver looks gorgeous! I've seen both white and Gt silver and I would chose silver over white any day...That my 2 cts. And for that matter if the silver has pccb, adaptive, and SC it's even more a no brainer!! Get the silver while it is time!! You'll thank me later!
Not to talk about the resale. Silver with all these options will be much easier to resale, go back to dealer tell him to keep his white TT, and go back grab the silver!

Re: Just commit to a White 997 with SC....

white colour is ok,look the 997 tt of SuperDarius!!

Re: Just commit to a White 997 with SC....

Go with white and get the front lip/side sills and rear lip done too... looks so good- my dads just arrived and the amount of thumbs up and admiring comments it gets are astounding when usually its middle fingers and vile swaring! A special car deserves a special colour after all! Silver is nice though can't argue with that but the white is making us grin every day!

SC- definately a must get... really wish that stopwatch on the dash was an option though- only tacky part of an otherwise great interior...

997tt w/o SC will be the quickest car you own

but I'd never buy one without the SC - you should be paying less than list for that car. You could call Jack Daniels in NJ - as of a few days ago they had a black/black 6 speed available immediately - it had all the performance goodies (except ceramics) and stickered under 130K

Re: 997tt w/o SC will be the quickest car you own

Well, guess what guys, I turned the deal down

Anyone here know of any white turbo, with sport chrono, ready for immediate delivery? I would love to have one

Re: 997tt w/o SC will be the quickest car you own

I wonder which wunderkind ordered that car ...

give GIAC or revo a call and see if their ecu flash can be programmed to add overboost like the sc option. personally i find the sc option annoying as it looks fugly and i always forget to turn it on (so it's like not having the option).

if giac or revo will increase boost to 17psi, then you you can negotiate to get a big discount for not having sc. this way, you get the ecu flash for free, more hp and some money in your pocket to spend on other mods (wheels, exhaust, etc).

Re: Just commit to a White 997 with SC....

    Typical lazy salesguy BS.

I thought I read that the TT is definitely faster with the boost function which only comes with SC.

Sales guy is confusing SC that comes only with different throttle mapping (no boost in a NA engine) in the 997; it is not demonstrably faster though it seems faster.

Some doofus guy who "wants the best car Porsche makes," but has no idea how much fun the car-guy options are to own.

Makes you wonder what the geniuses at Porsche marketing are thinking when they offer the car without the boost.

I think Porsche should make the SC option either standard, or at least mandatory - kind of like Ferrari and its Nav unit - you can't get the car without it. Seeing how all the tests are performed with SC anyway, it just seems stupid not to equip the car with it .

But then again, like you've said, Porsche has geniuses working for it...

Re: 997tt w/o SC will be the quickest car you own

Why make it standard, we all pay 1800 for it now.

I don't care. Make it standard and raise the base price by $1800, whatever. Just don't give off the impression that the base car will achieve the same numbers as the cars in magazines do (all of which are so aptly equipped with SC).

I agree. Not including overboost as a standard feature in the turbo is a serious (and uncharacteristic) marketing error for Porsche. Making overboost optional, and tying it to the ridiculous "sport chrono" option, ensures that Porsche will end up with dissatisfied customers (ie., the ones that purchased a turbo w/o overboost). The best marketing decision would have included overboost on all turbos, with or without sport chrono, included axel differential lock on all manual turbos, and adjusted the base price accordingly.

Re: Just commit to a White 997 with SC....

I just got a GT Silver car with SC sticker at 138,000
    Will post pictures asap!

Thank you very much guys! I didn't take the white
