iPod Order,need some advice.

Hy guys,i have a 2007 997 carrera 4 S with pcm, bose and cd changer but no navi. I would like to buy a dension unit to put my iPod in my car but i am little confused and don't know witch one to buy. What do you think? How is the instalation ,are there any other modifications necesary or just plug and play?

Yes the gateway 500 is the correct product for your requirements. I believe the installation is reasonably simple - do a search there are a number of people on here who have succesfully completed the installation.

Im in a similar situation, however I have not ordered the CD-changer. Can anybody confirm if the icelink-plus is sufficient to attach an i-pod where the CD-changer is or do I also need the gateway 500. My understanding is that the gateway 500 seems really to be about adding the ability to splice in a ipod in addition to the CD-changer????

You'll need the gateway 500--not sure what you may have read to the contrary but it is not just to splice in an IPOD in addition to the CD changer. It's to provide IPOD intergration with Porsche's MOST system which started with the 02 996/986's and carries forward to the 997/987's. Ice link plus isn't compatible.

ok, cool thanks - that is what I had suspected. I was hoping that there was a cheaper option. The icelink gateway 500 is too expensive IMHO just to add an ipod. I dont want a lesser not so well integrated solution either so I will wait until the market price has droppped. I would pay up to Pounds100GBP for a solution but no more. The gateway 500 seems to be just under Pounds300GBP

Until then buring mp3 CDRW disks and feeding them into the head unit seems quite flexible and free! With about 5 mp3-CDs in the glovebox I can have my own virtual ipod at zero cost.
