    Would YOU trade???

    Someone suggested I should swop my year old 997S Cab for their 2003 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante. The Aston's got just over 6000 miles on it.

    Would you do it or run quickly in the opposite direction?

    How close is _reliable_ AM dealer service? Sounds like there's no warrenty on the AM. There're three years fewer headaches with your P-car.

    Looks kinda like Ford "styled" the looks out of it, IMO.

    Dealer is 20 miles away and no warranty. would need to buy an extended warranty.

    AM's quality in 2003 was still pretty shoddy - run.

    Run as fast as you can in the other direction!!

    Serious reliability issues with a DB7.

    Hard to tell you what to do in the subjective area of which you like more but what's the bottom line on market value of each car, isn't the Porsche worth more? If so why would you.

    I wouldn't do it though. For a Vantage cab I would consider it. Or a DB9 plus some dough.. The DB7 already looks dawdy.

    I would never do such a thing! Dynamically the DB7 cab doesn't compare to the 997Cs Cab...however I would gladly consider the new V8 vantage cabrio..i think that it looks stunning and It should...drive everybit as well as the coupe...(which incidentally still isn't as nice as the 911!)

    I've just had a caall from another friend who traded his DB7 for an AMV8. His view: the DB7 drove like a dog and looked like a Jaguar with an Aston Martin badge.

    Not surprisingly he gently "suggested" that I run in the opposite direction!

    I'd do it for the DB9

    The same good looks but a bit more intense (on other ways too).

    AM = emotion, V8, British cosyness

    DB7 has had many problems and it's nothing even close to the DB-9, hold on to the p-car

    I've never seen an Aston I did not find attractive, although the DB7 looks a bit "1990's bland" to me.... in the vein of 90's Mercedes SL/Cadillac Allante---well, maybe not quite as dated as those two, but the visceral fun factor would drop significantly with the DB7, which is built on the old Jaguar XJ-S platform isn't it?

    I would trade a 997S cab for a DB9 cabrio.. would not for a DB7.

    Never....the DB7 is basically a better looking Jaguar XKR, it uses the same supercharged V8.

    It's another generation, it's not possible to compare.
    The 997 for sure is the better car. The DB7 is more exclusive, but is already dated imho.
    A DB9 or V8 volante are other and more difficult to ignore options..

    its a nice car, but once you get to drive it, it will be like day and night!!!!

    The DB7, just looks a bit outdated, and no way I would swap a carrera S for a DB7, NOT EVEN A 987 BOXSTER!!!!

    It's a sow's ear decorated as a silk purse. It feels freekin heavy and there's no stopping power on the brakes. No way could I own one of these. The engine is nice though as are some of the fitments, but it's no driver's car.
