GT3 wire mesh intake cover

Thinking of ordering the wire mesh cover (carnewal site) for the front air intakes of my 997gt3 to protect against stones hitting the radiator. Just wondering if anyone has experience of this...will there be overheating during track use due to restriction of airflow? Will it interfere with the aerodynamics/airflow and front end downforce as because of reduced airflow throw the front bonnet outlet? The 997gt3 cup cars have it but am just wondering why porsche didn't put it on the road gt3...thanks in advance!

The small road stones will still go thru...
Cup cars have them to protect the radiators from tire marbels.

I too was going to order the mesh grill. I think it will look nice but small stones can still get in there. And once the mesh grill is in, you will have difficulties cleaning it if you need. I can't get it on mine because I have K40 radar detector built into the front spoiler.

Thanks guys. I'm worried about large stones hitting the radiator at speed. As it is after only 3000miles my radiator "fins" are beginning to look battle scarred. I think i am going to make the assumption that since the Cup cars have the grill and they appear to have basically similar cooling and (front) aerodynamic design as the road Gt3 (airflow through bonnet vent) that it should be ok. Will keep you posted on any cooling problems or whether the front end feels as planted at high speed.

of the grills? you can see them on the carnewal site. I'll go ahead and put on the grills - post a pic when I'm done.
