    GT2 Spyshots

    http://www.leftlanenews.com/2008-porsche-911-gt2-997-future.html

Note that the car is the current shape NOT the facelifted version. Seems to put paid once and for all to the theory that MY08 will see the facelift.

I do not believe that Porsche will facelift the whole range and launch the GT2 in the old shape at the same time.

actually i believe that is common to facelift the carreras but keep the GT cars with older look atleast for a year

remember there were 05 996 GT3's along with 997 carreras!

He's talking about the facelift of the current model not a new one

the car is super aggressive! love it.

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

It had better drive amazingly, cos it looks awful.
Are Porsche trying to out-Gemballa the tuners ? Blech...

same thing Moogle if i remember correctly there were MK1 GT3's in 2001 when the mk2(facelift) carreras came out

just what has happened in the past not necessarily the same will happen

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

Im not aware that Porsche have ever launched a new model after the remainder of the range has been facelifted or has had a new model. The 996 GT3 was launched before the 997 - agree however that they were sold both as current models for a period of time.

My point is that Porsche will launch the GT2 perhaps MY08 with the 997 facelift coming in spring next year or even MY09. They GT2 and GT3 may well stay unfacelifted for their production run.

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

I am amazed that Porsche bothers to go to the trouble to put silver duct tape over the front crest, as well as black tape over the Porsche name on the brake calipers,--like we can't identify what this might be??

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

    Dan,

You beat me to it. I posted essentially the same comment in the 997 Turbo thread. There's also duct tape over the badging on the back to really confuse things--apparently the testers forgot the model delete option.

That's to protect them so they can throw them back in the parts bin for use later

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

I like the lower rear fender gills flanking the exhaust valance-- bit of Saleen S7... hope it performs like one!
Hope the GT2 gets its own unique wheel design, maybe 5 lbs. lighter per corner than current best.

It's only the most recognized automotive shape on the planet! ...... maybe add a subtle RR hood ornament- that would fool everyone-

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

Like the 996 series, the C2s, C4s and Targas will see the facelift, but the Turbo and the GT's won't.

    sorry but that's not true there was a MK1 and MK2 GT3 and GT2

actually Adam2S what you mentioned earlier makes sense to me but i looked up 996 intro times and MK1 GT2 came out in 2001 same year as the carrera facelift but then was updated in 2004 with a MK2!

porsche is weird so you can never know

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

while you guys are busy talking about facelifts, I'm looking at the rear wing and thinking to myself "DAMN IT LOOKS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!"

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

    It looks absolutely great!

You guys are fooling yourself if you think Porsche will repeat history with the facelifts. Just because they did this or that with the 996 series, it does not mean they will do the same with the 997 series.

If you still believe in history repeating, keep in mind that there were no facelifts for the neither the 993 Turbo / GT2 nor the 996 Turbo / GT2 (only internal enhancements to the engine, transmission, etc).

Another good example is the Carrera 4S model, which for both the 993 and the 996 series had a characteristic design which distinguished it from the other Carreras by using a Turbo-like body. For the 997 model this is no longer the case, it looks like any Carrera.

So do you mean there is LED for the GT2 or not?

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

Andrea... no offense... si la vita è troppo corta per non guidare italiano... perchè guida tedesco? I own both Porsche and Ferrari so I am on both camps and want to know if your motives in owning both marques may be similar to mine. Ciao!

Ciao!I haven't Ferrari as Italian car but an Alfa Romeo.Plus Mercedes and a Porsche.2 different styles,in common the search of pure driving emotion.

    Re: GT2 Spyshots

I like the front...and the dark splitter in the center. Not sure about the rear. I like the top part of the Wing, but not the vestigal stubs below. And SALEEN gills...at the lower rear - simply AWFUL.
