    Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Porsche, where is your competing product? Can't see any (997TT too slow - in the straight line as well as on the track)

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Finally, performance numbers that go with the horsepower!

    Markus,
Gallardo SL will be very, very fast on both Klein Kurs Hockenheim and Nordschleife... Soon in Sport Auto..

But, answer to your question is in 997 turbo board-new GT2.

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

    please guys somebody translate!!!!!

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Gallardo SL is faster in any possible condition then F430...
Hockenheim-more then 2.5s faster... Nordschleife around 10s faster...

    Regarding the GT2:

    - in 2008, not earlier...
    - no PSM
    - no AWD

    That is very impressive

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Impressive impressive. But waiting better 200kmh times. Wait for the other tests.

    3.7 is perfect

    Expecting a 7.45 times on N'ring

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

...and 997 GT2 will be manual only. Yes, Gallardo SL is more usefull for all year driving. But, many people simply love turbo kick(or lag ) so, IMO new 997 GT2 will be awsome car for excellent driver(german-kenner!)... For average driver it could be as Nick said...potentially dangerous car.

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Also good to know that Gallardo SL is faster the Murci LP640 both on Klein Kurs Hockenheim and Nordschleife.

The problem with the GT2 is that Porsche has absolutely nothing to offer for those who think the 997TT lacks power but still want a safe car. Porsche has a very dangerous car with sufficient (not too much!) power - the GT2. And an underpowered (I am exagerating a bit here) but safe car (997TT).

This product strategy is really the worst I can imagine. Porsche ignores highest-margin customers who are willing to pay a premium for a state-of-the-art sports car. These customers need to buy their cars from other brands as Porsche cannot compete with the best any longer

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Hmm... We will go almost off-topic here but, I agree with you to some degree...

Problem is IMHO not in Porsche, but in FACT that other brands are now at the same level of technical development as Porsche. 993 turbo were head and shoulders above competitors, 997 turbo is not. It is still the most complete and usefull sportscar in the market, but it is not better then it competitors IMHO. 997 GT2 will be a product for true individuals and really brave one I guess...

Still, in the end I would take 997 turbo(manual with optional LSD) as best possible merge between GT-likeness and true sportscar performance and feel.

It's not that they can't, but it seems that for some unknown reason they won't .

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

    Kreso,
some time ago you posted this :

Lamborghini Gallardo AMS (1/2007) 520hp, manual
    0-100km/h: 3.9s
    0-200km/h:12.6s
    0-250km/h:21.1s
    0-300km/h:40.6s
    Max speed: 318km/h

So the Gallardo SL is actually not much faster than a standart MY07 manual, is it ? Of course, the Gallardo SL probably was all-new with just a few kilometers on it etc. But anyway...

So you think the new GT2 will be again a "widowmaker"?

With similar horsepower you can't expect too much improvement concerning pure acceleration times. The difference between the Super Leggera and the standard car (as well as between the forthcoming Light Pista and the F430 BTW) is when you drive the first on a track, where SL/LP belong. For daily road use the more comfortable standard version should be the better alternative.

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

the car looks awesome...allow me to say that it kind of reminds me of the legendary Diablo SV which is a good thing of course because I love that car

in terms of straight line acceleration, I suppose it should now be able to compete the 997tt...but handling is a whole different thing...let's wait to see the lap time round the Ring...

True. I just wanted to point out there isn't much of an improvement despite what for instance Crash said "Finally, performance numbers that go with the horsepower!."

Potentially YES. If it will be without PSM then it is the car for "Kenner", and you know what I mean here...

Re: Gallardo SL in AMS test!

Problem is that some of the first MY2006 Gallardo(520hp) were not as powerfull as they should be! Shame on them IMHO.

This is why we have pretty different measurements for different press examples of MY2006 Gallardo in various European car magazines...

If I'm not mistaken the 997tt was faster in a straight line, 0-200 in 12.2 or so. I would like to see if the G could match the 7:42 time on the ring.

Yes I know. But IMO presenting a car like the GT2 without PSM is outrageous (extremely rare cars that are produced invery low numbers aside).

Shame on Tom Kristiansen, Sport Auto did 1.11.8 and 7.52 with MY2004(500hp) Gallardo E-gear

trip, the Gallardo will beat the Turbo from 250 to 300 km/h - at least this one will.
