    David Richards' Prodrive, backed up by Investment KSC from Kuwait, buys 85% of Aston Martin for 660 million Euro , 15% remain with Ford.

    I'm sure I read earlier this month that Lousi Vitton bought AM...was that a load of Cra p?

    From what I understand Ford widhed for someone who actually knew something about cars to own AM. At least that's what was said here.

    That sounds much better then the Louis Vuiton rumour... at least it gives hope that AM will be a real sports car..

    Good Luck to David , but I hope he doesn't end up the way Tom Walkinshaw ended up - their paths sound eerily similar so far.

    According to today's Wall Street Journal, David Richards is involved by Prodrive is not.

    I'm kind of sad for Ford, Aston was the jewel in a crown that has lost some luster over the last couple years

    I suspect Ford was arm twisted to keep a 15 % stake so that the new entity can continue to " borrow " Ford's technology , testing, parts , etc as needed to remain competitive with regard to safety , emissions and other regs which vary so much by region. .

    Great, a $150K+ AM w/that vaunted Ford safety technology....w/the legendary safety histories of the Pinto, Explorer, and Crown Vic/Linc Town Car and all those "competent" Ford engineers/execs who signed off on those "safe" products, AM's about as safety-focused/competent as F is w/its vaunted Fiat safety engineering infrastruc....

    Prob smarter/cheaper to get a new 599 (even at US secondary mkt prices), rather than a lame AM, for when one's driving mood favors high risk/reward in auto safety vs perf/feel/image/utility.....

    So one should trust FIAT for safety vs Ford ?Actually Volvo supplies Ford it's advanced safety technolgy , such as the first rollover stabilty system for SUVs using active sway bars , which are just now going into other brands such as new '07 X5 , new '08 Cayenne but only if you order it with PDCC active roll bars but some like MBZ GL and ML and R class still don't have it ... it's buyers don't know that and probably don't care but I do !. Friend's very young child died recently when their " vaunted Japanese brand " SUV , with std yaw control,rolled over when a guy weaving in freeway traffic flipped over center barrier into their lane head on with no warning and they swerved .

    As MKW stated, Volvo was extensively consulted when engineering safety features in the design of the DB9 and V8 Vantage. I feel quite safe in my V8. Do you have any actual proof that New Era Astons are unsafe? If so, I would appreciate it if you would share. My life could depend on it!
