Now that would be nice...if you ended up getting the 993TT and the 997TT.

Now just gotta explain to the wife why I'm gettin' two turbos and holding off on the vacation condo. Should go over like a turd in a punchbowel.

    Re: How about no mods?

How about telling her that the 2 Turbos ARE the vacation condo?

For vacations you can do a road trip and sleep in a hotel room. Also try to sell her on no more laundry and cooking on vacations

btw to answer the original question, I am mostly in the no mod camp, normally I don't keep a car long enough to warrant modding. 19 cars in the past 15 years

    Re: How about no mods?

    Bone stock for me.
Maybe the exhaust on my new turbo but not likely. It is the first new Porsche I buy.
All the used Porsche's I bought are stock. If a car is for sale and modded I do not even bother to look any further.
    It is immediately dismissed.

LMAO!! Chris, you'll need the extra turbo - to sleep in!! I actually ordered my TT before telling my wife. Took just the right moment for me to bring it up. She was actually pretty cool.

Best part is that the other day she decided that she wanted a beach house! So, now I don't feel so bad spending 150K on a car when she's going to spend close to $1M for a little cottage on the ocean!!

Seriously, i'm really glad she wants to do this. She is the polar opposite of me when it comes to spending money LOL. good thing, as it would be tough to afford if both of us were like me. She works hard, never wants anything for herself, so I told her she should go buy whatever the hell she wants.

A good way of breaking the news to the wife would be to tell her that one of them is for her. Of course we all know that it wouldn't really be for her.

    Re: How about no mods?

keepin mine stock unless the exhaust is too unbearable then it's Fabspeed time.

    Re: How about no mods?

Let history be your guide. When people are buying 1980s 911s and 930s you can bet the original, unmessed with cars command a premium. As MMD suggests, you have no idea on a modded car what ELSE has been changed unless the guy was more anal than the average Porsche owner and made copious notes on every electrical and mechanical change made to the car,--and that isn't generally the norm.

    Re: How about no mods?

    Chris,

"Turd in a punchbowel" ? Was that a typo or is your specialty shining through?

    Re: How about no mods?

    Both, again.

    Re: How about no mods?

Just change the exhaust nothing else it makes the car go from vacum cleaner to sports car over night and with the 200cell cats what a Diff !!

Lately I've been thinking I'll leave mine completely stock, (unless the exhaust note drives me crazy). What do y'all think?

A lot of people think that modding their engine would make the car substantially faster. While this may be true if you add at least 100 HP more, the difference in the lower 100 HP range isn't as spectacular as many people think and mostly in the upper 125 mph range which may be pretty much useless to owners living in the US or other countries with severe speed limit implementations.

To give you another example: yesterday, I drove a couple of hundred of kilometers (business trip) in my 997 Turbo. Since the weather has been very warm over here, I already switched back to summer tires. During my trip on the Autobahn, I encountered only an Audi TT and a BMW 7series which were driving at a speed around 240 kph. All others were driving way below that, including a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Honda NSX and a Porsche 997 Carrera 4S.

So basically, I was the fastest car on the entire Autobahn and my car is stock. On the race track, additional power won't help you much, semi-slicks and maybe some driver ed events would help much more. Otherwise, I can't see much reasons for upgrading power on the 997 Turbo.

I'm still looking into it, no doubt about it. However, I ask myself each and every day: would more power really enhance my fun with the car? I doubt it because I mostly enjoy it on country roads and not on the Autobahn. On the Autobahn, more power definetely could have an advantage, especially when spring/summer is coming and more sportscars will be out there. For "fun" driving on deserted country roads or even on the track, more power doesn't really mean anything. I'll keep you updated.

That's true. It's also nice to know that the official 2year (or extended 2+x year) warranty applies if anything should go wrong
