    Purchasing a US Spec Porsche in Germany

    Hi All,

    I need a little help. I am a expat working in Germany for the US Military. I want to buy a US Spec Cayenne I can drive one here since its registered with the military. I am having a heck of a time finding someone to sell me a car at a fair price. I got this one guy from this car dealership over hear (US owned) that will order me a 2005 Cayenne, but wants me to pay MSRP. I have a problem paying MSRP when I could go to the states order the 2005 pay 4k-5k over invoice and ship it back to Germany. I am trying to save myself some time and money by purchasing the car here, but I am not having any luck. Any ideas?

    I'm not sure I can help you but what Cayenne do you want to buy? V6, S or Turbo?

    Considering the high Euro/US$ exchange rate, I'm not sure but I think it would be better to buy a Cayenne in the US and ship it back to Germany. You can even get a good price at some US dealers, especially if you buy a car they have in stock.

    German dealers usually give 3-5% rebate on the Cayenne to german customers, especially the S and the Turbo. Not sure about the V6.

    If your "US owned dealership" offers you the US(!) MSRP price in Germany, go for it. Saving a few thousand bucks and losing a lot of time and nerves getting the car directly in the US and shipping it back to Germany isn't worth the hassle.

    I need more details.

    You might be able to order a car from a USA dealer and specify European delivery to save the hassle of shipping the car.

    Normally the way to go would be through a diplomatic sales program. They usually also sell to military. But I do not believe Porsche has such a program. Too bad as the discounts are usually quite good.
