Right hand Drive C2S

Hello everyone!

I was looking to buy the 997 Carrera S and I was wondering if I could order a right hand drive model in the US? The reason I ask is that I want to import this to India and at this point LHD are not permitted and the price in the US is much cheaper than anywhere else even after the custom duty. If I import thru a dealer in India I will end up paying around 180k USD for the C2S and if I directly import it myself i think its working out to around 135-145k USD.

Any other advice you have on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

If all else fails, order it from Germany. A standard RHD C2S is about $ 100k from there (+ Indian duties, obviously).
It's more expensive than from the US, but at least the RHD option is available.

Just guessing but I'll bet you can't order a RHD for USA delivery.

BTW, I know that Porshe North America really don't like the notion of people ordering a car in the USA for export. They have been known to request documentary evidence that the car will not be exported.

That's because US cars are so cheap. If a carrera S cost $90.000, it's the equivalent of 67.950 euro for any european (compared to 100K euros if you buy the same car in europe)

You get a 30% discount in a blink of an eye.

Where in India do you intend to drive this car? I have only seen one 911 in India and it's in Bangalore. It's 997S with PCCB and aerokit. Funny thing is that the owner took a que from US boy racers and put an RS logo on boot lid in place of the Carrera S badge. The roads in Bangalore are horrible, I'm sure he has to plan his routes carefully. Also most cars have dents and dings as the traffic is intense.

Good luck, hopefully you'll bring it to Bangalore as I'd love to see another 911 once and awhile.

To Hyderabad actually and there are a couple of 996's there and a lot of Cayanne's(much better suited in India). The roads in the city arnt that great but they get pretty good at the outskirts, lots of very nice twistys.

Bangalore is similar, lots of Cayanne's and lots of nicer roads outside the city and also a lot of very bad roads. Like I said in my earlier post, to drive a 911 in Bangalore requires careful trip planning not only to avoid bumps and holes but also dogs and cows, but hey dogs and cows provide improvised twisties :-)

Roads are getting better and exotics are getting more common in India. I have seen Lamborghini's, Ferrari's and many Porsches.

By the way SPA, you can order LHD or RHD in Japan and Japan is the cheapest RHD country.

Funny you should mention that...I was just on the Japanese site a little while ago... the retail on the C2S is 12.90.000(~110K USD?) but I dont know if the price is for a RHD or LHD. Its 120k USD in Germany, so if I cant order one from here then Japan is going to be my next option and shipping is also going to be much, much cheaper.
