A little bit faster on what tires? The video stated that Nissan changed lots of tires during the run - who's to know what kind of rubber was on the car when it lapped a little faster than the Turbo?

Not only that, who knows which driver is better? these tests are completely useless if they are not done by drivers with similar skills and who are also as familiar with the track. What I see is pure marketing nothing more. lets wait for the real tests.

Some of you guys need to relax. If the Z06 runs faster laps on runflats than a GT3 on Cups then of course it turns into a "...but the Z has 100 more HP". Or maybe... "it was a flying lap"
Will it make some of you feel better if we just state that nothing runs faster than a TT? Nothing. Including jetplanes. Nothing. Especially not a rice burner.

If I were any more relaxed, I'd fall asleep.
The point I'm making is that the "who's faster" thing can be affected by variables outside of the car's "stock" configuration. And until you know what the variables are, telling me who's faster is meaningless.
And with regard to the "runflats"...they aren't the "bad" tires Vette guys make them out to be.

Do people actually cross-shop Porsche and Nissan? Especially a Porsche Turbo and a GT-R. I figured the GT-R would be priced closer to the Z06 than 997 Turbo, so I would imagine it's a bigger threat to the Z06 than 997 Turbo.

bondmid003, as you are a Z06 owner, are people on the Z boards talking about the GT-R yet?
Performance-wise the GT-R is in the same league as the Z06 and the TT, price-wise it's around the Z06. The GT-R also spots the same advantage of the TT over the Z06, 2 more seats and AWD. With AWD it's going to be a all-weather performance car like the TT.
In a nut shell, the GT-R is going to be a 'poor' man's 997 Turbo. Poor here is a relative term.
Generally, people who can afford a 997 Turbo can also afford to have a second car in the Z06's price range, but the reverse may not be true. So I don't think Nissan is targeting the 997 Turbo directly. I think Nissan is using the 997 Turbo to indirectly targeting the Z06 instead.
