997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 06 Options!!!

    Morning Gents

Just going through 911 PW and they say that there will be a 997 facelift in Sept 2007.

I have a new 997s due for delivery in march 2007.

Is it possible to delay? Get discount from OPC?

    or none of the above.

I bought the car on the basis of whats right for me not to sell on, but it will grate on me within 6 months if my car is the previous version.

It would appear that the enhancements are both cosmetic and power related.

I am thinking that this situation would be similar to pulling Jordan in the club and getting home to find her peferect curves replaced with jodie Marsh-esque droopy swingers upon removal of scaffolding!

Great in there own right, but still not as it says on the tin.

I shall ask OPC Hatfield for comment.

    Cheers in advance.

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 06 Options!!

    No facelift during 2007!

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 06 Options!!!

I did the same too and waiting for March. No new model for this year for sure. If you think that they just finished the targa I dont think their clients would appreciate at all seeing their new car old fashioned in 6 months...

    Best regards.

This is just typical speculation from a UK dealer. They don't know anything for sure but they tell customers something as if it is fact. No one outside PAG knows this info.

In your dreams. UK dealers never give discounts even if you beg on your hands and knees.

There will always be a better model introduced after you've bought yours. All that will differ is how long the interval is between you buying your car and when the next model is launched.

I waited and waited from Sept 2004 till Feb 2006. Couldn't bear it anymore. Just did the deed and have been in a perpetual state of automotive org*sm since Nov 2006. Need I say any more?

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 06 Options!!

I blieve the 911 will get a facelift during the second half of 2007. During 2007 the 997 will turn 3 years which is the average time for a facelift. More over it is facing som stiff competition by the Z06, E92 M3, R8 and future Lexus sport car. A facelift couldn't come sooner.

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 06 Options!!

The HP gain will be about 8 (eight). Our "older" cars won't look old until there are alot of new cars rolling around; will take some time for that to happen. So your march delivery is probably good because you'll enjoy the spring and summer AND it won't start looking old for at least a year (assuming yours is NOT one of the very last of the "old" cars produced).

To put it another way: My guess is the extreme, near-obsessive enthusiasm for your march-delivery-car will wear off in about six to eight months (mine did). Just in time for the facelift to make an appearance; your response to that will be alot less traumatic than you are now anticipating... .

I say go for it now; to put a sh*tty spin on it (sorry): you never know what you'll learn next routine trip to the Dr.

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 06 Options!!!

If you change your order for an 08, say Sept 07 build, you will very likely not get any discount at all. Most dealers will not promise a discount on next years model.

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 06 Options!!!

UK dealers don't give discounts anyway. Never, ever....

i believe you are right too! look at porsche 996 history...which got a facelift in 2001 three years into production.

also, why would they have that many photos floating around of simply a facelift this early?

i believe that only unless it's going to be a 7 year run instead of a six the facelift will be a 2008 MY car.

IMHO, I'm sorry but forget Porsche's history; past "behaviors." They're responding to the dizzying heights of big profits.

If it will sell more cars, create a buzz, then by all means spend a pittance to change the lights and a few *plastic* body panels (not part of expensive-to-change welded monocoque).

I bet somebody at Porsche is most likely pushing that they do it every year!

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 06 Options!!

The truth is, you should probably buy one off the lot that you like and enjoy it. Then wait till the facelift arrives and if you like it, spec one out and trade in the one you've been enjoying for the past year. Forget the depreciaition. That is simply the cost of enjoying the car. Either way, when you finally pull the trigger, the car is going to depreciate. At least this way you get a better "deal" because the dealer doesn't want to carry excess inventory and you start enjoying the car 3 months earlier.

    Think about it.

No deal will make up for the depreciation you'll suffer from buying the current car and trading that soon.

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 07

    Well Gents

Spoke to OPC Hatfield yesterday and my black baby will be in Reading within a couple of weeks.

Facelift, More hp, whatever....doesnt matter at all.

What matters is the feeling, nothing more, nothing less.

I am looking at keeping the 997s black/cocoa leather for a long, long time...why not indeed.

You only live once is such an expensive way to live your live, but what a way to go!

Cheers for your comments and roll on the first weekend in March 07.

The Hatfield Tunnel is going to get it and no mistake.

    Knightsbridge underpass - 2am

Well worth the expense to do it at least once, even if the b*stards charge you for the so called privilage. Enjoy!

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 07

Good for you, I placed an order at Hatfield too but I was told to wait until April for Porsche to annouce the facelift before I choose the build date. I hope we were not dealing with the same person

Beware that tunnel as it has a rozzer in a skoda whoo's best game is pulling over loud cars having a blip and enjoying the soundtack..... what me sir 110 i am sure not

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 07

Just go for it ... I'm taking March 07 delivery from factory of a C4S X51 Sport suspension (-20mm), Ceramic brakes. Face lift or not

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 07

Another thing. If the facelift comes in a year or two years it doesn't make any difference if you plan to keep the car for three years (or more). You still lost the money due to the facelift factor in the depreciation.

Difrerences looks wise? Like your kid, it's the same, you'll love the car anyway.

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 07

Thanks Guys 19 hours to collection and counting... oh the nerves and the beauty of the thing!

I basically came to the conclusion that I am making a wonderful purchase at a great time and make sure you damm well enjoy what you have and no regrets for something that hasnt even happened yet.

My main reasoning for going for it (new c2s) was life is for living and is too short for external worries about 10-15bhp, LED's etc...

The car is a dream come true and Tomorrow cant come soon enough.

Oh yeah... facelift pics are ahem interesting.

All I need to cap off the weekend is Sir giggs to score the winner on Saturday!

I went for the basalt black / cocoa brown combo - pics to follow.

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Order placed for March 07

Paul, enjoy the experience! i'm sure it'll be one which will remain with you for a long time.

Are you collecting it from Porsche Hatfield?

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Delivery Tomorrow

    Yes, Hatfield OPC.

They have been good without being exceptional. However, if my ipod is connected and working c/w all of the other goodies...I will be in Heaven.

Note: Bad experiance with VW previously.

    I just cant wait!

I dropped off the insurance cert the other morning at about 6.00am and the drana, anticipation call it what you will is totally all consuming.

    Not long now.

Re: 997 Facelift Model - Delivery Tomorrow

    You must be sooooo excited!
I'll let you salivate a bit more... what's the spec?
