    Re: Facelift timeline

When I see those pics, I really start believing the facelift will be shown in Frankfurt.

    Re: Facelift timeline

    Frontend resembles indeed 987

    Re: Facelift timeline

maybe its me and it has something to do with the fact that I got my C4S X51 last August and I don't want to hear about a facelift but I prefer the looks of my car.

The rear lights look tiny and feminine. The front may be a bit more aggressive but also looks too similar to 987.

I do look forward to hear what's inside but don't see how this facelift can be a major change.

    Re: Facelift timeline

Thanks for these pics! Really the best so far to show of the exterior updates at least

I think it looks really good and modern... The new headlights plus the LED-lights and the new shape of the rearlights are nice.. My C2S is from mid 2004 so it is time for a change next spring perhaps
Wonder what will happen to all other options and what new extra goodies that we can expect. 380mm PCCB on non-turbos as an option? Updated PCM? and Powerkit-performance included as a "no-cost-option" ... PSE, will they change the tip-design to something even more spectacular.. Better PASM-system with LSD so this might be an option.. Since i'm coming from -20mm/LSD I wouldn't for anything trade this to the PASM offered today, but with new mapping it might be an option to consider

    Re: Facelift timeline

    Good Pics!! Thanks!!!

Can't wait to see the new PDK and the new 4S!!

I think it will be better of the actual 997 under all the points of view!!

Now we are waiting the new interior pics. . .

There won't be any differences to the interior of the actual 997. That's what I've read.

I don't like the little frontlights (they are copied from the Boxster [987]).

    Greetings

    Re: Facelift timeline

I wonder what the rear facia, license plate area, will look like in the US version; being that the plate is much taller.

    Re: Facelift timeline

As a 987S owner, that facelift makes my car feel more special and up to date

    Re: Facelift timeline

guys I dont know what is the rumoured date for the new 997 facelift, so I apologise if this has been already said...

today our dealer has called to Detroit, specifically to know if there is any rumours about the new facelift launch, the answer dealer has gaved us is that, the new facelift wont come in this year, and neither 2008, it will be launch in 2009....

Again Im sorry if this date rumours have been already said, but I thought they are pretty long away, anyway, that's what we got said today by our dealer

    Re: Facelift timeline

2009, so maybe that's how long it takes for them to get the PDK & all ready...

IMO the new design of the indicators make it look similar like a Boxster.

In the article above I read about "tweaked suspension and steering" plus "minor changes to cabin materials" for the first time.
As for the Boxster similarity: the Boxster will receive a facelift also (see thread in the Boxster Board).
Hence the 997 MK II might look like a 987 MK I

911 will look like a Boxster and Boxster will look like a 911. Seems as if there's something wrong in Zuffenhausen's styling department.

Don't be so harsh, Rossi. Even bad designers have to work SOMEWHERE .

Yeah, like Ferrari. Oh wait, that guy was recently fired.

    Re: Facelift timeline

hmmm, don't really like the two lights in one design... makes it look too busy. Is it possible that all the exterior changes have already been ready for a long time, and they're now testing some very sophisticated technical stuff? That, or they already moved to another desin, and these are just mules...

    may be !

he made the phone call in front of us, for rumours or any news about this...

Also our dealer is PORSCHE GERMANY, its not a private spanish dealer

    rumours... and more rumours....

Guys.... I dont believe all this "not before 2009" crap which Porsche is telling.... This car is by far to ready! Have seen two Facelifts this weekend a black and a blue one. Almost no camo any more, just some stickers around the lights and black wheels. Why.... why are they doing that.... Have seen couple new Mercedes S Classes in Stuttgart car is already presented to public and even stronger camo'ed than that Elevens....

    Silly...

I agree. I believe the facelift will be 2008MY. Personally, I love the facelift; fore and aft.

    Re: Facelift timeline

99% of drivers could not tell the difference between the facelifted version and the current one anyway...

No Targa facelift and TT facelift camoed though...

Maybe MY 08 facelift for some 997 and MY09 for the others. Maybe that's why all the info/rumor is so conflicting. We will know a little more when the TT cab comes out though.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

    Re: Facelift timeline

Doubt there will ever be a Turbo facelift... the lifespan of the Turbo is too short for that.

    Re: Facelift timeline

Let us look back at how Porsche changes the 911 models, the new 997 was in place for a year and a half before the TT was released, if there is going to be a facelift inwhich from reliable sources in London is a possibility, it will be for the Carrera models alone before moving to the turbos, targas and GTs This has always been the norm by Porsche. It's all a marketing strategy. If they decide to change the TT with this facelift, what then happens to the TT's produced over the past 12 months ?. In order not to devalue the yr old TT's the look will remain the same. I'm going to hold out for the facelift it looks pretty modern compared to the present 997

There was a facelift with the 996 turbo. Why would you think that there wouldn't be one with the 997? The turbo's lifespan should be as long as the NA 997.

    Re: Facelift timeline

Actually there was no facelift with the 996TT. The other 996 took the facelift in 02 from the newly introduced TT in 01...

Different (I hope) this time around, the 997TT was introduced whitout facelifted parts. So the 997 facelift will have to migrate to the 997TT...

I must be mistaken then. I thought that there were some subtle cosmetic changes made, such as the rear bumper warts being painted, rather than being black. Maybe I'm confusing that with the 996 na model.

However if you ask those same people which looks better, 996 or 997, 86% will say the 997.

    Re: Facelift timeline

    DavidSF,

If I have read SciFrog's post correctly, I think he was saying 99% of drivers couldn't tell the difference between the 997 currently available (i.e. launched in Sept 2004) and the facelifted 997 which may be released in Sept 07 or Sept 08. I don't believe he was referring to a comparison between the 996 and 997.

I agree with you on that though, the 997 looks much better than the 996. Just a much more modern look. I think those people who say the stylists were lazy etc when designing the 997 are themselves lazy at comparing the detailed differences between them.

    Re: Facelift timeline

    Hi all!

Sorry for the late question but what color is it here?

    Thx and Greetings

    Re: Facelift timeline

The car looks like an egg from beind, with the tail lights having a smashed egg-like-thingie appearance . I like the current one better.

    Re: Facelift timeline

The new front is better..more aggressive :P
