You name it. Still impressive. After the time of the Aventador SV the official Nurburgring time of a manufacturer hasn't much value to me.

Big spoilers that aren't retractable always looks terrible on convertibles. I'd rather have extra weight and a raising spoiler than save a few pounds and constantly has it stuck on, be it on a coupe or a spider.

    Fixed spoilers are obsolete IMO.

Shows the improvement in modern drivetrains. From a roll, a modern 720hp RWD like the 720S would have dusted that Huracan.

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

Slower then the GT3 RS ....

Last time I was Mugello , I talked to a guy with a Performante . The guy was way faster on the straights then the GT3 RS , but was slower in the tighter sections .

And if you read the whole article: to loud for the noise regulations on the track (Nürburgring), they had to stop earlier than planned

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

The time difference between the Huracan and the RS is negligible and immaterial  IMO. They are both very fast and no one would decide on the one or the other car on this basis. There is a substantial price differential  between the two cars but this is to be expected as Lamborghini is a more exclusive brand.

On another note, Lamborghinis have become mostly for poseurs, unfortunately, . You can see dozens in Central London circulating endlessly in congested streets in their flashy colours and blipping the throttle to make an impression and irritate bystanders and pedestrians. Very cheap behaviour.

OTOH the RS is for serious drivers and real sportsmen.

Another question is why Lamborghini insist on AWD when Ferrari and McLaren cope with RWD so well?

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

I mentioned that it was slower because there was a huge hype on the performance of the Performante , and at the end , it is not realy there . It is a fantastic car , and it would be on my list of cars to choose from , but it is no ground breaker .

Price difference is there but does it matter at all if you can’t buy a GT3?

It actually is a ground breaker from a couple of points of view:

    1. It doesn't look like a 911 Smiley Smiley

    2. Sound is the best on the market, maybe matched by two or three other cars on this planet

    3. One of the most emotional rides on this planet

    4. Track performance similar to GT3 RS considering the circumstances (lack of power, Gebhardt not really comfortable in AWD cars, etc.) but with much better straight line performance and more usable AWD for street driving, even under bad weather conditions

    5. Interior is just a piece of art, GT3 RS interior looks like any 911 interior

AWD has some serious advantages and most drivers with comparable driving skills will always be faster in the AWD car.  Also, for daily driving, AWD is definitely more fun. No major traction issues, even on wet pavement (careful with braking and side grip here though). The weight saving would be 50 kg or so at max, so...

The winner in all this is McLaren unless you have access to GT3 and 488 which can drive for mostly free.

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

GT3 / RS can not be driven for free, unless you sell them within the first few month of production and don't drive it much

GT3 maybe...a little bit...but 488? Not really. No probs to find a 488 with low mileage under MSRP in Germany.

The pros of AWD are known especially in some climates. But Lamborghini could follow Porsche's marketing lead and offer a choice of RWD and AWD.

They have the LP580... Not sure if there are many Lamborghini tracking addicts, even if apparently there are many Performante out there on tracks.

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

Okay guys, let me get this straight.

Here comes an Italian car (well, sort of), participates in one of the best known and highly respected German (!) car magazine tests and gets the same amount of points as the best two Porsche ever produced. In fact this Italian car sits right at the top of the tableau of this magazine with them and some of you are not impressed, at least a bit?

Sorry to say, but sometimes Porsche fan boys don't seem to be that much different to their relatives from Maranello. angry
