One thing though that might be of interest even in sports cars is that the weight of this ultrafabric material is 33% lighter than leather. Porsche should look into this, they can shave off 15kg in a GT-car. That's better than the sticker on the bonnet Smiley

One word regarding GT car... AlcantaraSmiley

But you still get lot's of leather on the dashboard, side bolsters on the seats etc. So you could still save 5kg and that's huuuge Smiley

But seriously, if you happen to be close to a Tesla store pop in and see if they have a demo car with the Ultra White seats and try them out. You might be in for a surprise Smiley

I don't think you can be much more or less healthy unless you can actually define what it means. Some very basic things like weight, blood pressure, etc, but I think you'd be hard pressed to prove two perfectly healthy people are more or less healthy than one another.

My grandma is 97 and never exercised a day in her life. She doesn't diet. I argue she's had amazing good health all her life.

My father died at age 92, same thing. Unfortunately he developed Alzheimer's at age 87.

I never ate fruits or vegetables in my life, no kidding. Always hated this stuff. Never touched a salad in my life. I am 52 now and I'm perfectly healthy. Only taking 100 mg of Aspirin per day because it is recommended to keep your blood thin from a certain age on... No high blood pressure, no diabetes, nothing. I never worked out a lot, only doing stuff I like. I do not smoke or drink though, never did. Not even a beer. Also no drugs, ever.

Within my circle of friends, basically everyone at my age has a medical condition and most of them are doing lots of sports (actually often because of their medical condition). Genetics...you can't beat it.

Oh, here's a shocker for some of you: I am using Aspartame for over 30(!) years now. Sometimes I drink 3-4 liters of Aspartame sweetened sodas per day and I use at least 20-30 Aspartame tablets per day for sweetening my coffee.  I'd say that I am the best proof that it is safe. Smiley My wife uses Aspartame for over 20 years in slightly lower quantities. Same thing, she is as healthy as she can be (contrary to me, she works out at least one to two hours per day...she loves it). I hate fat food though, avoid it whenever I can. Also, I'm not a fan of sweet stuff like cakes or similar stuff. I love ice cream though.

Never ever...neither do my kids (they come after me Smiley according to my wife).

Well...I love potatoes (mostly mashed potatoes or boiled potatoes) and I love white beans but I don't eat them much (beans). I usually eat meat (though mostly lean meat), I love dairy products (I drink at least a cup of milk per day, also love my cheese) and I like bread but I cut down on it to loose a few pounds. Oh and I drink Martinelli's apple juice when I'm in the US (only apple juice I like). Favorite desert is ice cream. Smiley

Like I said before though: No smoking, no drinking (zero) and no drugs (ever). Also, I'm not a fan of fatty foods.

Also drinking mostly water (Evian) and when I work, Coke Zero (in the past Diet Coke). I love coffee but I have a pretty good digestion (if you get my point Smiley) when I drink coffee, so I do not drink much coffee at work.

Believe it or not, perfect blood pressure (sometimes even too low), perfect glucose levels (actually a bit on the lower side, 60-65), cholesterol is OK too, my cardiologist (he is a friend) is very happy with me (he always tells me that he can tell immediately that I never smoked) and otherwise, I have no health issues. No need for any medications (incl. Viagra Smiley)...so far. Even still have a lot of hair and I wash it every day since I am 10 or so (my mother always told me that I'm going to get bald if I wash my hair every day Smiley).

Oh wait, there is one "medication" I take, more of a supplement: Vitamin C. Once a day, 1000 mg with time release from a US company (Nature Made I think, I always buy a couple of boxes of this stuff when I'm in the US). Taking it for years now, may kind of a placebo effect only but I think it is doing me good.

Here is something telling about electric cars.

During the unveiling of the new Phantom VIII, Rolls Royce's chief Torsten Muller-Otvos said his brand will go electric in the next decade, as the current technology simply is inadequate. The charging needs to be an effortless situation as the wealthy clientele isn't in the mood to spend more than couple of minutes topping up batteries.

Makes sense. It's the time cost that matters. For the average people making perhaps $20-$30 per hour, a 40 mins charing session is only costing them less than $30. For the better off, that 40 mins wait translates to hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Electric car charing needed to match gasoline cars' average stopover time in a gas station, which is 5 mins or less from empty to full, and that's the time acceptable to everyone.

The Tesla's 400V system is doomed, 800V is the future, at that higher voltage is where quick charging can occurs.

He's full of shit and BMW is just behind the game and he doesn't want to admit. What guy makes so much money that he can't be bother to do this but also doesn't have full time staff doing this.

It's a joke to think rich people's time is always money. RR clients have more free, leisurely time than the average person by far.

Any time a company says what their customers don't want to deal with at the moment, it's really just covering for what they can't provide because they're behind.

What's the problem? They're probably on vacation/road trip. In reality, you waste more time at gas stations than they do being that their car is charge every time they wake up in the morning?

They probably wonder why you like having to get gas when it's -20C outside or leave the house early so you have time to get gas because you were super tired last night and didn't feel like stopping.

There are more upsides to electric than there are downsides, and there are plenty of downside to using petrol.

I would never be a customer for this stupid concept Tesla as it is today. That is for sure. Seeing them waiting for 30-45 minutes at the border of the Autobahn was just very strange Smiley Also, the car looks like a middle class Ford. And riding in one as a passenger was totally (!) underwhelming. Total average. I don't think this will survive for long.

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

Well, different stroke for different folks. They'd probably wonder why someone would want to drive all these super slow 911s for $150K...

There's nothing wrong with either car. Both have pluses and minuses.

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

That was a nice save but the Tesla driver should have changed lanes when he saw the others braking IMO

    https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/by-the-numbers-tesla-model-3-vs-chevrolet-bolt-ev/#ftag=CAD590a51e

Mode 3 is apparently better than expected on many fronts and is now on top of its category on basically every level. Vs the bolt it is bigger lighter faster and has way more possible range with the premium option. 310 miles range 0-60 5.6s for $45k minus $7.5k in federal rebates. It also looks way better, has a unique interior and ventilation system and capable of future autonomous drivers by system with more $$. Manufacturing has apparently been streamlined to a level never seen so far, they will produce 20,000 model 3 per months in the same footprint they produce 5,000 model S. base model recharges 130 miles per 30 minutes, 170 for the premium version, almost double the bolt.

You might not like the idea of recharging for long trip (how many trips a year like that you do anyway, I do none as I fly anywhere) and this won't probably be the only car in your household anyway. The car has no key (that reminds of Steve jobs strategies of breaking the established molds).

Anyhow this car should sell very well in the USA and probably in China. Europeans can keep chewing on their polluting diesels and silly outdated hybrid solutions.

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

Looks decent, but I think those pre-orders back out when push comes to shove and rebates disappear. I don't think the car really delivers on the hype because the hype was way too much. A lot of people complaining about the price and options.

Personally I think it's ugly and the proportions make it look cheap. Interior is fine I guess, but I'd have to sit in it to be certain. Performance and range don't seem exceptional. They didn't over promise, but they also didn't overdeliver.

I think TSLA tanks and sales don't meet expectations. They'll sell enough to stay in business and be modestly profitable, but the value will fall back down to Earth when the 500K/year sales don't seem like they'll happen.

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

You would rather drive a RAV4 than this car?

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

Of course I would. Rav 4 is an SUV with utility, this is not. I have no use for a little sedan like this. I encourage you to actually drive a Rav4 if you never have. It's $30K and it's super spacious and comfy. If you don't care about having a baller SUV, it's great SUV.

I honestly don't even know why Tesla started with sedans and small cars. EV technology is more ideal for SUVs and trucks given the weight and poor fuel economy, not to mention SUVs and crossovers are where all the money is. Model X was kind of a flop because it's really just a crappy SUV design shoehorned onto a Model S. Model X would have been excellent had it been a clean sheet SUV.

So does your phone always broadcast the unlock signal or do you have to use the app to unlock? All I currently do is reach for the door handle and open it. Same thing with locking it -- just touch the handle. Any other form of interaction to unlock the door is a step back and dumb.

When testdriving the Model S last year I was kind of blown away of the interior leather quality. I told the dealer - WOW, this fine Nappa is standard? He was proudly telling me yes!  At home - me dummy - was reading the documentation and found out this are plastic seats. What big BS. The biggest problem with those plastic seats are, that you are sweating like hell on it.
