In short:

Steering is not so sharp as Porsche 997 Carrera S, but high speed stability is amazing!
Magnetic Ride works wonderfull and body movement are in complete control.
Regarding AWD only 15-30% of power is coming to the front wheels and you can feel it! R8 is despite mid-engine layout very, very friendly to drive very fast. And most importantly R8 is very friendly when ESP is in off mode. True drivers car.

Why? In my eyes they manipulated those images in Photoshop to provide some exaggerated reflections. The Audi R8 is dominated by sharp cuts and corners, e.g. the side air intakes or the bodypanel along the front wheels. Those appear to be much more accentuated in silver or grey metallic paints than it does in white. Audi knows it, so in my eyes this car will appear differently in reality, depending on colour. Just my 02 cents.

IMHO, the more I look at the black blade, the more it grows on me, and is gradually becoming a must (for white or silver exterior color). What do you guys think?

I don't like the alternating color. I know the designers are trying to make a "statement", but it doesn't work for me.

I guess it will be possible, but I thing Crash meant a bigger V10 in the R8, derived from Lamborghini.

But as long as Lamborghini belongs to Audi, the R8 in the top version will always have less power than the Gallardo, which is said to have around 550hp after the next facelift. So 600hp in the R8 is impossible.

Well, if Audi and Lamborghini will still belong together in the future, the R8 in the top version should always be less powerful than the Gallardo. And I don't think we will see the Gallardo reach the 600hp barrier so soon, it will be more like 550hp.

Very interesting that Ferrari is rumoured to develop a very interesting AWD-system too. And 599 GTB (and surely the F430 successor BTW

) use magnetic ride as well.

44% front and 56% rear is WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION or WEIGHT BALANCE!
Only 10-35% of power goes to front wheels.

In terms of aesthetics, the car is pretty from angles, but I don't think it has a significant, continuous form. The gestalt impression it leaves is a bit jagged and uncouth.
Perhaps only with sharply contrasting colors; wonder what it would look like in a darker homogenous hue?

In terms of performance, it clearly offers a beautiful engine that should sound lovely, to accompany a stiff chasis and an advanced 4WD (Audi's performance cars have been inching towards more RWDish Quattro to compete in their respective classes e.g. RS4-->M3).

I'm still up in the air with its price (is it 90k USD or 110k? Anyone with anything concrete?), but if it is near the C2s, it will definitely cause a market sway.

Congrats on the wait spot Ron, I'm sure you're gonna love it. Just please get the 6MT

But 600hp in a R8 would be very interesting whoever it makes.( Audi or a Tuningcompany)

I read in a german Mag. that the Lambo G will gain 30-40hp and the R8 will get the V10 but with only 500hp. ( nov/dez 07)

The Difference between the 2 Lambos will be 80hp.

...but, little bit shorter then F430 front. On the other hand 997 has looong rear and long nose(very short wheel base).
Well, I like 997, F430, Gallardo and R8.

Yeah, it's always nice staring at the engine, but the optional blue-LED-engine-bay-light of the R8 is an unnecessary gimmick. Well, at least you don't have to order it.

Very nice pics. Performance wise it sits between the 997S and the TT, smart move than will work only if the price is much closer to the 997 S than the TT.
