    Rennteam Track Day?

I've been contemplating attending a Track Day at some point during this year, but certainly in warmer weather. I was wondering if fellow Rennteamers fancied booking into either an open day or Porsche day at one of the major tracks in the UK.

Perhaps Brands, Snetterton, Cadwell Park or even Oulton Park.

There is a designated Porsche Track Day for Porsche owners on the 5th of February at Brands. A bit too early for me, but it may give you an idea.

    Check it out HERE

What do you think? I thought it would be great for everyone to meet, share experiences, take pictures of everyone's cars etc etc

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

    Great idea!

For those Porsche owners that haven't taken their car on track, you are missing the ride of your life. It's the only place you can safely drive the car to it's limits...it's an experience not to be missed.

With the exception of the Cayenne, all Porsche's are happy on the track. So don't worry about your car. Provided it's in good roadworthy condition you'll be fine. Remember track days are not a race. You'll be sent home if you go crazy.

I would recommend either Bedford or Donnington for a first track day. Bedford is an airfield circuit - kinda bland and featureless but with massive run off areas - very safe for a first outing.

Donnington is a proper racing circuit. A little daunting at first if you've never been on track before...but professional tuitition is free (if you book with tracksport) and there are good facilties.

How about Bedford on 3rd March for the first Rennteam UK trackday?

    Details on online booking here.

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

Good going for the Brits. We should do one in the States too. How about Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake?

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

    Cool, that's one UK Rennteamer.

S1XXR, I'll check out Bedford now. I've done the Palmer Experience there and it was great fun. Apparently they have 996's (Tip) which replaced the VX220's. However, I might be able to do the 3rd, just need to check with work and the little lady of course.

Could do with a few more. C'mon guys and gals lets give it a go.

I understand Rennteam are planning a trip to Germany soon. Great, let's get it on.

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

Just trying to get some insurance sorted. Don't trust myself you see. Does anyone know of a good broker? By good I mean cheap and good cover. Bit of an oxymoron that I think.

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

Wish we had enough members from SA to organise something like that here! Only person I know is "The Stig" and he lives 1000 miles away!

    Watkins Glen.

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

I might be interested, assuming it's not a day where there will be a load of boy-racers on the track and my PSE isn't breaking regulations by being too loud.

I may extend the invite to fellow Porsche Club GB 997 guys if you wouldn't object to a few extra Porsches on the track?!

    Watkins Glen.

That would be fun, but my little car would struggle to make it out there and then I think I'd have the wrong gearing once I arrived. I have super low gearing that gives me a top speed of around 133mph @ 7,800 rpm. Makes roadtrips tough too...

I set up my car for a very tight local track - and then of course they closed it the following year...

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

Still trying to get a fairly decent insurance quote. Currently Pounds365!!! for one session and only insures to a value of Pounds30,000.

Are / is anyone else interested in going?

    Alex,

I have PSE also so if would be a problem for me also. However, I did a Palmer Sport day there and the cars we drove were a lot louder if I remember correctly. So, do you fancy it?

I've booked for Silverstone GP circuit day with Goldtrack.co.uk on 17th February. Cost is Pounds199 which is a lot less than normal for the full GP circuit on a Saturday. There will be some interesting cars in attendance including two 997RS's.

In terms of insurance, I moved my policy to a broker called A Manning. They include unlimited track day cover in the policy as part of a deal they struck with Porsche Club GB. Talk to Richard Busby on 01491 578 759 206.

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

Hey ResB... couldn't reply before - didn't know if I'd still have a licence.

I could make Oulton Park pretty much anytime if that suits anyone.

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

I'd be interested as long as the insurance isn't prohibitive.

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

Count me in too - ditto re the Insurance affordability, though - I might be able to find some as a friend I know used to track his Porsche before he sold it - it was about Pounds100 for the day, although his car was worth a lot less than a 997. I'll let you know if I find anything - watch this space.

Bedford would be a good start for us I imagine. We can then move onto Donnington.

I might finally get to use that bloody stopwatch!

    Re: Rennteam Track Day?

Yeh, Bedford sounds like it would be a good starting point as this would be the first time I've been on a track without a Porsche Instructor as co-pilot...

My Porsche Insurance covers me for 2 track days this year so I am sorted on that front.
