I had a friend, who is about 6' 4" sit in it last Friday, and he was shocked that he didn't have a problem with head room. And he was comfortable.

Yeah but, was he in "proper" driving position? You're supposed to be able to bend your wrists over the top of the wheel inorder to be driving "safely" on a track or the streets.
Yes, he was. He is quite thin and has the proportions (length of legs and length of arms) so that the seating and driving position is proper.
I would agree that not all 6'4" drivers would be able to get the proper driving position. Someone with much longer legs and shorter arms, even with the steering wheel adjustment, would probably not be able to get into the correct driving position.
Porsche should consider making it possible to lengthen the steering wheel adjustment and installing brake, clutch, and accelerator peddles that can be adjusted.
