Re: ROW GT3/RS ACTUAL Weight
The German 60 odd page brochure I have on the GT3 and RS has the GT3's weight as: "according to DIN - 1,395kg (3,069lbs), after EEC guideline - 1,470kg (3234lbs) & Total weight - 1680kg (3696lbs)".
I don't have the definitions for these German weight classifications, but I think there is some propaganda going on here. (the North American Porsche literature has the "curb weight" as 3,069lbs which is supposed to be a "Wet Weight" i.e. full tank of gas, oil, coolant etc.)
It seems to me that the DIN and N.A. "Curb Weight" are most likely a dry weight (considering there's about 110lbs of gas in the 17.7 gallon US tank and I don't think the dry weight of the car is close to 2,900lbs!) I would say that the EEC guideline is more likely the EC"Curb Weight" or "Wet weight" for an EC car. An EC car will be, as discussed ad nauseam a little lighted due to no sunroof and lighter seats, but with the cage (I'm sure Porsche also weighs the Clubsport optioned car for the official weight to make them look lighter). 3,234lbs vs 3,320-40lbs for a North American car is only a hundred pounds difference, and probably right.
The Total Weight of 3,696lbs is the same for both the GT3 and RS and is probably the maximum weight of car, passengers and cargo (462lbs of payload).
