666 phone option report
Although I have had my car about 6 months and have logged about 4,000 miles, I never bothered to really explore the phone until this week. I had erroneously believed that I had to operate the phone controls from the PCM center console, as I did not order the multi-function steering wheel. Much to my surprise, while engaged in RBP (Random Button Pushing) I discovered the phone can be entirely controlled from the PCM computer steering wheel stalk. Al functions, including phone book, missed calls, most frequentally called numbers, etc. can be accessed from the control stalk with phone #'s and names clearly displayed in the annunciuator at the bottom of the tach. Had I taken the time to read the PCM manual, I would have known this on Day One. My dealer had never ordered a car with the 666 phone, so they didn't know much about it. Other than Bluetooth integration, the Porsche 666 phone option works much better than the one in our BMW M3cic or E55. Duplicating the SIM card and keeping one in the car helps.
