    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I assume that the Bose system has more speakers, subwoofers and bigger amplifiers.

You could delete the PCM unit to counterbalance the weight penalty. indecision

+1 for no Bose in the GT3. I like my hi-fi and would even consider paying for Burmester in a GTS or something, but in the GT3 it would be a waste of time. Regardless on whether you think the engine is music enough or not, once you start moving, the lack of soundproofing and general NVH obliterates the lower end of the frequencies, leaving only a harsh sounding top end. Adding more audio won't fix this. Put the money towards tyres and brakes instead indecision

I ordered my 991.2 GT3 (manual, no Clubsport as I  don`t track) and I ticked the Bose option, not because I am an audiophile but just because the standard audio setup is really poor.

Agreed. If you plan on driving a GT3 on any longer journeys (which you should enjoy) and you like music or radio, it's well worth getting the upgraded stereo. Imagine driving for a few hundred miles on a motorway -- that's when you can really appreciate a good stereo... Smiley

One of the great qualities of the GT3 is that you can enjoy driving it at any speed! Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Did any of you drove 991.1 GT3 RS or 991.2 GT3?

I am assuming not since interior noise is so high that any kind of stereo besides standard one do not make any kind of sense.

Adding a Bose to GT3 is similar thing to adding Ventilated seats to GT3(thank God, not possible).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I respectfully disagree - I frequently hook my iphone on and listen Music on longer journeys - but I haven't driven the .2 GT3 yet (ask me in November) smiley

Yes have driven every GT3 since the 996. To me it makes sense and I am not saying everyone should do the same. I have also ticked heated bucket seats for that matter. I have configured the car to my liking.

I drove a 991.1 GT3 RS from Zuffenhausen to Munich and I was still able to enjoy some music. Depends on how high you rev (car was new, so I couldn't/wouldn't rev above 4000 rpm). Smiley BOSE is crap in the 911 anyway but for example "acceptable" in my wife's Cayenne S Diesel (2017 model with CarPlay). Truth be told: I wouldn't really need the fantastic B&O system in my R8 but for example on speed limit roads (Austria/Italy...highway), it is quite pleasant to have a good music sound in the car because you cannot really enjoy the car at these constant speeds. I usually set my speed control to the speed limit and I listen to the music from the sound system.

Thanks GaussSmiley  Mine one will be Sternrubin (color to sample), full leather/alcantara with silver stitching, foldable bucket seats (heated), aluminum wheels. The color is not to everyone's liking but I love it since the days of the 964 RS .

I was just wondering what the penalty/downside was. Why wouldn't one take better speakers if there's no downside, given the cost of the upgrade is very limited.

Weight difference in a normal 911 between standard and Bose is minimal.. <5kg IIRC.  This may be less in the GT3 as I'm not sure if they leave the rear speakers out or not.  Burmester is proportionally rather heavier as the speakers have much bigger magnets and chassis - not an option on GT3 though.

I've listened to the stereo in my .1 GT3 extensively - on long trips alone to tracks, UK, etc.  I wish it sounded better, but don't think putting better equipment in will improve the experience in the face of the high ambient noise level (unless you want to deafen yourself in the process).

I've had many extremely good systems in various cars - used to be a hobby of mine.  Not worth it in a GT3 though, unless you want to weigh it down with a LOT of sound deadening material.

    1) I hear Bose in 991.2 is much better than 991.1

    2) The guys who upgraded their stereos in the 991.1 GT3 had to add more insulation in the doors so that the upgraded drivers could do their job.  This is why Burmeister will not put their stereos in certain cars.

    3)  In the GT4 it is definitely possible to listen to music and it isn't half bad for a car of this type, but any better stereo would definitely be held back by the car's acoustics.  As it is now, you have to play the stereo quite loud just to drown out the ambient noise (in 6th gear at 3500rpm) and that becomes tiring, regardless of how distortion free an upgraded stereo would be.  That said, I still enjoy having a stereo for when stuck in traffic or cruising around.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

My 918 has a delightful system that is distortion-free at loud-enough levels that I can listen to SiriusXM or my thumb drive while cruising to and from track events in fine style.

I've spec'd the GT2RS with the uprated sound system to offer the same experience (I hope).

I imagine it sounds great while in electric-only mode.  I would think this is a selling point of all EV's for audiophiles.

To me it looks like the engine cover is not fully closed hence giving the impression of discontinuity with the rear spoiler, but you can see on the sides that the engine lip is popped up from the side hips. Looks like the rear spoiler has a little lip on the end of it too, interesting. If only we could see into the back seat area in that pic...
