    Did the TechArt thing

Well I know some will think I am nuts but i really think TechArt did a great job on these parts. Let me know what you think.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

Love it! Looks better than the turbo wheels IMO!

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

Very nice, what size wheels and tires you got there, spacers needed?

Stock Tires, wheels are 19 x 11.5 rear and 19x8 front. The rears require 17mm spacers

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

    very very nice!!!

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

the back looks very brutal now! like it!

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

It looks more aggressive then the stock version. I like it !

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

Here's my opinion, no offense meant.

Front lip looks great, side skirts look good, rims look horrible (like it or not but I think the OEM rims look the best), rear wing is somehow too much, rear exhaust pipes look great but maybe, maybe a tick too large, "thicker" steering wheel looks great too.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

Much nicer than the previous manufacturer photos I have seen

Don't like front lip, side skirts make the car look shubby, GT3 rims looks best, rear wing looks GREAT. I love the rear wing. It manage to modify the a.ss so well. Congrats on that part. As for the exhaust pipes, yes they might be bit too big but it's ten times better than the original.

I like the rear very much. I thought I'd never say that of a techart tuned car, so if I say it, it means it really is good looking from the rear.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

    Hello,

Your car's interior looks exactly like my one of my current plans : sand, sycamore, techart steering wheel. I am debating between factory's sport steering wheel vs. regular MF wheel then swap out for the Techart, exactly as you did. I am leaning towards the sport steering wheel because I think I like its smaller diameter (correct me if I am wrong) better.

Would you please comment on the Techart steering wheel? Is there anything you don't like about it? Not too thick, just right? Does back of steering wheel have finger rests? Texture of leather is good?

    Thank you.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

I don't like the front lip but otherwise the car looks awsome. The only thing you need it to get a new exhaust system so that the car sounds as good as it looks.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

Looking great, Rich! Any issues with scraping the front end yet? The front end looks even more vulnerable now.

Are you going to get the cargraphic exhaust now? I finally heard from Greg from RSS, they're expecting my tips to arrive at the end of this month then it'll be sent up to me. I'll drop my car at Barrier to finally do the install.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

Looking good in the neighborhood Rich! What do you think your drag coefficient is now? Will you need another 100 HP to overcome it? Someone once said that the amount of down force a wing provides is inversely proportional to the amount of drag it creates.

Once again I have a Guinea Pig to show me the way on modifications. Keep up the good work!

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

IMO the rims don't fit that well with the car...and I definitely don't like the wood trim in the interior...

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

I like your car... It is much better than tha standart turbo in general...

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

    Looks good.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

The car looks good and I like the beige interior with the wood trim.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

Regardless what other say your cat looks absolutely beautiful inside and out, congratulations on THE choice.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

any chance we can get pics with the rear wing all the way up?? Thanks!!

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

    Looks great!

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

I think it looks great as well.....blends together nicely. What is the controller at the center console? Remote V1?

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

That's the bluetooth module by Rosen.

None taken to each his own.

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

I too did the TechArt "thing", although it a much more limited way -- just had the front lip installed (interesting in that my car is also Atlas Grey). I ordered the lip several months back and just had it installed a few weeks back. (BTW, I was surprised to learn from the shop that did the work that the lip came in 4 pieces and they needed to do a fair amount of work to get the piece ready for painting and thereaafter put it through several rounds of primer, sand, paint, etc. before they felt it met their standards -- the guy is admittedly a bit anal.)

While I would be interested to hear your experience 997CarreraS, I can tell you the lip on my car seems to be on a search and destroy (itself) mission. Fortunately, the damage seems so far to be contained to regions that are quite hard to spot froma normal viewing perspective. While I had the shop apply a custom cut section of 3M "shield", the areas being affected are not covered and, regardless, the 3M shield is not designed to--nor would it be able to--protect against road rash. I am beginning to wonder if my wife would notice if I 'borrowed' the skid plate from the front of her Cayenne
    Tim

P.S. While I had ordered the TechArt piece long before I saw your post 997CarreraS, I must admit I decided to replace my tips with the same Fabspeep tips you got about 5 minutes after seeing your post. They look so much better than the stock (i.e., Pontiac) tips it really calls into question exactly what Porsche was thinking (it does though seem easier to pull off with a dark exterior color, the "mismatch" of the high-temp plastic surround is likely far more obvious on a bright/light color).

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

And here is the not so pretty shot (although first pic wasn't really all that pretty either -- hey, it's January in Chicago, there no such thing as a clean driven car).

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

I had the TechArt lip on my Carrera S. Their is no way around it, the bottom scrapes. Just don't look. The first time it scraped i was pissed. But once it happend once, it didnt matter any more. Fab Speed tips do look much better. I did not like the look of the TechArt Tips with the fake blacked out cover over one of the ovals. Sounds like we think alike

    Re: Did the TechArt thing

The exhaust pipes would look perfect if they were much thicker. The Carrera GT and F430 pipes come to mind. By making them thicker they wouldn't look to big because the lumen wouldn't be so big. It's really the lumen of the pipes that is to big, not the diameter of the pipes themselves.

    You mean like this?

These are the cargraphic oval tips. I've got them on order.
