P.S.: My info is from a guy who works at Porsche (Weissach)

Here is a brief blurb from one post:

"For the best-possible transmission of engine power to the road, the GT3 is equipped with a comprehensive traction package, which includes not only the standard-equipment 19-inch sports tires but also a mechanical limited slip differential. In addition, the new electronic Traction Control - adapted from the Carrera GT high-performance sports car - ensures safe traction under any driving conditions. It features traction-slip and drag-torque control functions, and can be switched off completely if required. "

I've seen more detailed descriptions - I'll post them when I find them, but I believe that "drag-torque" function works even when your foot is not on the throttle pedal...

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case The information I received from the Porsche employee regarding the TC features of the GT3 was the main reason why I finally decided not to wait for the 997GT2 any longer (the car will most likely have the TC of the 997GT3). No PSM like features, no GT2 for MKSGR

Jeff - Different from previous applications of TC in Porsche cars (I've never driven a CGT). Not sure if GT3 is advanced from CGT, but it is advanced from the TC last seen on a 911 (early 996)...

    me either!
maybe one day we will get that chance.

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

Grant is correct. The CGT and 997 GT3 traction control system features the "drag-torque control" which helps with traction problems caused by engine speed DECELERATION. I encourage anyone who feels they have to have PSM, to try the new GT3 with its new generation of traction control. Amazing security and stability. Is it PSM? No. But it comes amazingly close.

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

am wondering about the interior leather fot the GT2 997 ..!! it`s will be like the interior of the GT3 997 ??
    they have only 3 colors !! black & black + gray & gray ?!

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

the 997 GT2 will be the best car in the world .. thats it guys , no need to say more than that ... lets talk about the compitetors now (if there is) ... what would you say if you are a 997 GT2 owner and i told you that there is a FERRARI 599 is waiting you in Nurbergring .. ?

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

as Jeremy Clarkson said in the classic 996 GT3RS VS 360 CS video...I feel a race coming on!!!

I'd say: "I hope the drivers are as good as the cars are."

Right after you give up on it .

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

The UK OPC who supplied my 996 GT2 contacted me in October and asked me did I want to send them an 'expression of interest' letter for 997 GT2 as they were being told back then that model announcement was coming in January '07 with cars being supplied from start of '08 model year - Sept '07.
They have already acknowledged my letter and I've been told to expect booklets & specs & request for a deposit against my order next month.

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

i noticed on the porsche site they had a teaser pic of what looks like the 997gt2 rear wing on one of the pages.

That may be true, but it only works on the rear wheels.
It will be helpful under deceleration since it will prevent the enginebraking from locking the rearwheels and bringing the tail around if you suddenly lift going into a corner, especially in a low gear.

But you go too fast into a corner and get understeer....hello scenery

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

So Jan '07 the dealers will be getting the price + option list ?

    Waiting since Aug 2005

Let me see: the GT2 should be available around early summer 2007 or like a second rumor indicates, early autumn.
Meaning that we should expect the press release sometimes around February/March, maybe slightly earlier. I still think that the 997 Turbo Cabriolet will be announced earlier than the GT2 but time will tell.

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

    Lol We will see..

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

Spoke to my OPC this morning and details have not come through as yet but they are still optomistic of deliveries commencing in July '07. Turbo soft tops are expected to be released rather sooner.
Just done about 1000 very wet miles over the hols in my 'old' 996 GT2 - wishing for better[teflon]blades than a soft top and handles beautifully IMO on standard road settings. Added .5 litre of Mobil 1 at the end of the trip and she now has 50,000 on the clock.

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

    Thanks for the update

    6 more months to go

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

This GT2 is very interesting; I wonder if it will use the same turbos; that is, will there be any room for improvement or will it be "maxed out"???

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

    Any new spy pictures anyone?

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?

A couple of others I have collated from scouring google:

    Re: 997gt2 known facts?
