911 Product Information guide: email address by 7pm tonight

If you would like a copy of this document, that's fine, just PM me your email address. I will be emailing this pdf file (it's a 4.2MB upload) tonight at 7pm London time (i.e. 7pm GMT).

Please note: it's quite a big document so it takes a while to upload. So I would prefer not to have to keep emailing it again and again so, a little request, if you would like it, I am happy to send it to you, but please make sure you PM me your email address by 7pm GMT tonight so that I can add your email address to my email distribution list.

Those of you who are more privacy-sensitive, don't worry, I will send it bcc (blind carbon copy) so other people on the distribution list won't discover your email address. The email will be from 'zojebalah' - it's an anonymous email address I use sometimes. Just check your inbox AND your junk email/anti-spam/bulk email folder.

As for the document itself, it's really informative and repays careful study. I wish they would have included this information in the main 911 sales brochure.

BTW, this document is confidential to Porsche AG. It is intended for use by Porsche dealers to educate and train them with sales and technical knowledge about the 997 and 997S. It doesn't mention the 997 Targa, Turbo, GT3, GT3 RS or Cabriolet models since it was written when the 997 was first launched in Autumn/Fall 2004. At that time, only the 997 Carrera Coupe and 997 Carrera S Coupe models were available.

Regarding confidentiality, I am an ordinary member of the public. I am not contractually bound by any legally binding confidentiality agreement preventing me from sharing this information. Furthermore, I did not receive this information subject to any duty of confidentiality. As such, by sharing this document, I am not in breach of any legal obligation.

I have stated the legal position as I understand it as of 27 December 2006 as it applies to me under English law (the jurisdiction in which I am based).

    Regards,
    Easy

911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Jan

Okay guys. I just sent it. It should appear in your Inboxes soon. It's a big attachment (5.56MB). If your Inbox won't accept it because it's too big, let me know (by a Rennteam PM) and I could try to zip it and then resend it to all those people that had problems with receiving it.

Anyway, I appreciate that plenty of regulars here on Rennteam are probably still on holiday. So, if there is more demand, I will do one more email distribution on Wednesday 3rd January 2007 at 7pm London time for those that missed it.

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Jan

To those guys I was supposed to send it to today within the last half hour, could you let me know by a PM if you didn't receive it safely? Thanks.

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Jan

When I first got this document some time back, I read and re-read it many times. One core impression stayed with me... namely, just how much carefuly thought and engineering went into making the 997. There are goods reason why the word "precision" is so often used to describe the 997. This book explains why.

In sun, I just can't imagine buying any other marque of car in the future.

Sorry - atrocious typographical errors - I meant to write:

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Ja

easy_rider 911. What is the "part number of the publication?

is it 489 421 05? called "Technik Introduction?"

If not, this one is good too.

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Ja

There isn't a Part No. (I checked the first 3-4 pages and the last 3-4 pages where the Part No might be written).

I presume that's because it's for dealers and not for the general public.

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Jan

Got it! Thanks so much for the intensely interesting read.

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Jan

Thanks for the book. Can't wait to read it...GR

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Ja

Just wondering if anybody here can post it somewhere and provide a link for a download?

I (we) missed "deadline" and mostly don't want to keep bothering easy-rider911 via email.

I can imagine him getting swamped with requests after making such a kind and generous offer.

You're welcome guys. But, honestly, it's my pleasure. Rennteam has been so good to me - so it's really the least I can do to be of service to others here. If any of you guys would like to have it, just send me a PM. I'll make sure it gets to you.

Cheers mate! Please PM me your email address. I'll send it to you. Hopefully, you can post a weblink to your webspace.

    Would that be okay? Ta!

    Re: 911 Product Information doc

    Sent you a PM.

    Re: 911 Product Information doc

Okay guys, ResB has very kindly offered to host this document for all of us. I've emailed it to him. In due course, he'll post a link on this thread or on another thread here on the 997 Board so that you can just click on it to be taken to a webpage where you can just download it yourself at your leisure.

I've sent it by bulk emails to a couple of hundred of you guys already. Going forward, doing it this way makes more sense...it's becoming a full-time job!

I'm interested to read what your all think of the document. I think the parts on PASM are especially interesting.

    Happy New Year!

    Re: 911 Product Information doc

    Many thanks once again ResB.

    Enjoy!

Thanks again for your effort. The product information guides surely provide some additional information, for insiders just as much as for interested customers. Although the really hot data seems to be spread otherwise...

PASM is definately a neat feature and will surely develop into a valuable feature on Porsche's lineup. So far it is a bit dissapointing that especially the high-volume Carrera models don't provide a similiar persuading performance with this system as the Boxster or GT3 variants. I predict that facelifted versions will have significantly improved characteristics in the damping category. From what I have read and heard so far, the Targa's altered suspension provides a quite satisfying character, despite the car's higher weight and center of gravity.

Enough talk, preparing myself for New Year's holiday...

    Re: 911 Product Information doc

    easy-rider911 and ResB

Thanks a million for the information. Was great to see the car "explained" for the sales team (the other-car-comps were good). You guys are very kind and thoughtful. Lemme know if you ever need anything from me (I have lots and lots of Porsche pictures). Thanks again! Wishing you well in the New Year!

    Re: 911 Product Information doc

Thanks very much for the post easy-rider911. I've started reading it and it's full of interesting information. Much appreciated. ResB thanks for hosting the file.

    Re: 911 Product Information doc

Your welcome, thanks go to easy really.

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Jan

    easy-rider911 and ResB,

Thanks guys! It downloaded in a matter of seconds!

Re: 911 Product Information doc: email address by 7pm 3rd Jan

    Thank you !

    Re: 911 Product Information doc

    easy,

Thanks, I talked my sales professional (more on that later) into letting me copy his product guide. I believe I can make a higher quality hard copy from your .PDF.

Chuck Yeager the famous WWII ace and first to exceed the speed of sound attributed his survival on many combat missions when his aircraft was damaged to knowing his aircraft systems. I think the product guide provides a lot of insight into the systems on the 997.

I use the term sales professional because he talked me into a $500.00 wheel and tire protection plan which covers broken wheels and punctured tires. As you probably know any puncture of tires on the 997 void the speed rating. I have had three rear and one front tire replaced at no cost. I broke even on the $500.00 after the frist rear tire was replaced. The plan is good for five years.

If you are in the Washington D.C. area I hope you will let me know so I can return your good turn.

Thanks again for sharing this useful infromation.

    Happy New Year,

    Craig
