Just installed NAV TV for Ipod

Sounds great and hasn't malfunctioned yet. Has anyone had problems with this system? Also pics of K40.

Here pics of K40 mounted on front spoiler and on back of license plate. And the two blue leds are the warning lights. Left for front detection and right for rear detection. There is a city and highway mode and voice or tone warning.

Also I asked for two inputs. One for the ipod which is integrated to the PCM and an auxillary for my Pioneer inno.

Re: Just installed NAV TV for Ipod

    Nice.

What do you use for a TV antennae? and how good is the reception?

    My version of NavTV bugs:

    1. Unless in Random mode, one cannot access more than 99 songs on a playlist. The list cuts off at song #99.

    2. Title of a song on PCM does not automatically advance. This means track 1 remains on screen even when we have moved on to track 2, 3 or 4. Problem: if you try to skip when track 4 is played (with track 1 displayed on screen), system will not jump to track 5 but will play track 2.

Here are a few bugs I can think of.

Re: Just installed NAV TV for Ipod

Looks good. I like the idea of the two LED's as I have a pending installation of my Laser Pro Park to be carried out. However, I don't think I'm brave enough for someone to drill the dash...

Either way, looks good. I mean can a GT3 fail to look bad.

Re: Just installed NAV TV for Ipod

This is the exact K40 system I am having installed on my car tomnorrow. Thanks for the pictures! I have printed them out to show to my installer 'Car Toys'.

    Thanks and Cheers!

Re: Just installed NAV TV for Ipod

Please post some pics of TV screen-shot on the PCM!!
    Thanks!

Re: Just installed NAV TV for Ipod

With all due respect to others here who have this system in their car and no offence intended, but personally speaking, if a system does things like that, there's simply no chance I would ever fit a system like that in my car.

When you buy a 997, you are getting a precision-engineered car that should run perfectly. Why introduce something that bug-prone into it?

And for what? So that I can play songs from my iPod? But the PCM plays mp3 CDs perfectly. Why would I need an iPod connection?

Re: Just installed NAV TV for Ipod

I too have a K40, they mounted my LED's inside of my air vents, no drilling - plus, Invisible.

As I mentioned earlier - I had a hardwired FM modulator installed for my Ipod, I am going to wait until all the bugs are worked out!

I respect your opinion, but I drive 56 miles round trip everyday and sometimes in heavy California traffic. I mainly use my XM radio. There is the driving experience which includes driving the car, and to me listening to music which adds to the driving experience. I love my XM radio. Once you listen to XM you will never go back to CD's or regular radio. Plus, my ipod has close to 10,000 songs on there, so this is a must for m3. I knew I was taking a risk doing this but the guys who installed this are very reputable and do many porsches. They weren't cheap but worth every penny. My only advice is if anyone does this spend the money and go with the best.

Re: Just installed NAV TV for Ipod

    I'm confused???
I see an Ipod and another controler....whats that?

Did you install Sat radio as well?
    You can do XM

Berfes and JimFlat6: I think you are misled by the company name "Nav-TV." In this case they are making an iPod integration kit and currently do not have a TV or video option that plays on the PCM. The Nav-TV kit being referred to is only to play an iPod through the PCM (with control of the iPod through the PCM -- this device takes the place of the CD changer and plays some tricks so that the PCM is thinking it is still talking to and controlling the CD changer.)

    Re: undefined

yes. one is an ipod hookup integrated to pcm and the other is auxillary input for any mp3 device. I didn't want to be limited to my ipod only. The other controller is pioneer inno. it cost a little extra.

    Re: undefined

To be honest, I didn't know it had a TV function. gonna ask the installers about it.

    Re: undefined

    So...NO XM
    Why not

    only iPod & MP3 device...

TV in a GT3, now that could really be something

    Re: undefined

The other device is pioneer inno which is a portable xm radio/mp3. If you haven't heard of it, it's amazing. It's has a power built-in antennae. Also has memory function to record music. Just plug into aux. input.

    Re: undefined

    Is that stock or aftermarket?

    Re: XM

Using stock Porsche components (Cayenne) available from your dealer.
XM or Sirius works from your PCM as pictured in previous post.
Antenna is located in cowl below windshield
