    Correct, these are run flats.  They do seem to have less tread than regular PSC2s, but I can't speak to the compound.

    RC is not correct that this tire is only available through Mercedes.  These tires are about $1500 USD / set through Tire Rack and other retailers.

    Corvette engineers know the c7 is a ancient pig. It's at the end of its life and its replacement next year will weigh less.

    A 5.5 l 700 hp n/a V8 would be an amazing engine. How they are going to sell (or prior to that certify) it in Europe remains a mystery to me though.  Unless of course GM decides not to offer this car in Europe.

    Why do we care about the AMG GT-R Cup 2s?  This is a thready about the Corvette.  This is what we call a straw man. :D

    If you add the electric motors, hp will be closer to 600 and 700. No way the C8 will be priced at $60-70,000 not with that power plant.

    The C8 will be mid engine and it will have a much higher price, it will not be a simple fiberglass body on a metal chassis with McPherson struts front and a rear transverse leaf spring like they are now. Expect way more than that. 

    As for outputs, think Boeings latest model designation for the top of the line model. For the hybrid E Ray awd model think a little under that. For the base model think 500bhp easy.

    top of the line mode, think Carrera GTS price with 488 plus performance.😎

    As for front engine corvettes, their baby boomer demographic is dying off so it will die also. The Corvette will be going up market in price, equipment and performance. The C8 Corvette will also be the first ever vette available in right hand drive. And If anyone here works at a certain German automobile lighting company .....angry Smiley

    Since even the new Ford GT probably has trouble to outrun the 488 (talking straight line here), I doubt the 488 performance claim.

    Repeat, the front engine era of corvettes is over. No mas. Finito. A New era is coming to Corvette.

    The Corvette plant was closed to the public this June 16th for a huge overhaul. Manufacture of the new cars begins next January. Over 1billion USD invested in plant upgrades alone. The C8 will get all New motors, new layout, new technology. We will See if they can meet their performance targets, their new dohc large displacement V8 is no joke.

    They could call it just C8Smiley Sounds simple but catchy and lacks the reputation of the "old" name without leaving it behind completely. 

    A V8 n/a engine with 700 hp or more? This would be amazing. Again...I believe it when I see it but I still have my doubts.

    And that is a good thing. Decades of long brake pedal travel, poor throttle initial tip in, more motor than suspension, rain and winter phobia, dodgy steering and creaking body parts all had to go. GM will never admit it but they really were building  a more reliable TVR.

This engine has been overhauled and newly designed a couple of times, it is a piece of art of engine engineering. Not sure how GM wants to get 700 hp out of a 5.5 l V8. Reliable 700 hp and even more important: Meeting all emissions and noise regulations standards worldwide.

    I do not say it is not possible but I have to see it to believe it. If true, this would certainly throw a different (more positive) light on GM.

    The new engine is internally designated as the LT5, dohc and its displacement is 6.2 liters. We will have to wait to find out the exact magic output number and how they got it.

    Most (preliminary) information on the internet suggests that the LT5 will be bi-turbo charged V8. The power figure of 700 hp seems to be correct but no n/a engine (most sources). This makes much more sense considering new and more strict emissions standards in the EU and worldwide.

    it is believed that the LT5 will use a form of force induction, most likely high-pressure twin turbo-charging.

    The internal company codes for the LT5 for the C8 do not include the standard GM acronyms for turbos or a supercharger. Reference in the links above confusingly mention a C7 LT5 model for MY 2018.  The C8 is not a MY2018 model. So who knows. Whatever, the C8 will brake better, handle better and actually have traction.
