    colour combo

I have just placed an order for a Carerra S in the following
colour combo: Meteor Grey/ Cocoa Brown

However going into the dealership today, i couldn't help but notice the beautiful Atlas Grey/Black they had on display.

I have 2 days to decide on my final colour combo, and opinions would be highly appreciated.

    Re: colour combo

Cocoa is definitely one of the most beautiful interior colors available on the 997.

    Re: colour combo

Meteor Grey with Cocoa will look so beautiful & sophisticated. IMO, you should choose the SportDesign wheels to help complete the subtle look.

    Re: colour combo

    thank you guys

easy_rider that sportdesign wheels are exactly what i went for, still undecided about the wheel crests either, ive also ordered the tail pipes in chrome

the colour decision is very difficult, im having a very hard time with it

    Re: colour combo

IMO you have to get PSE so you'll get chrome tailpipes anyway. Hear PSE, you won't be able to resist.

IMO I wouldn't get coloured wheel crests with a Meteor Grey car. I think the black wheel crests look better with any black or grey car. It makes for a more stark contrast.

With silver, I think the coloured wheel crests look better.

    Re: colour combo

    Gee, that was easy....

    Re: colour combo

It's the colour spec I picked with my Turbo, very pleased with the combination.

    Re: colour combo

I voted for the Meteor Grey/Cooca Brown choice not because I do not like Atlas Grey (I own Atlas Grey) but rather because black interiors do not appeal to me any longer. I am not sure when that transition happened or why although I think the "cheap" plastic looking interiors in many US domestic cars have contributed so to me black is just bland.

Have fun making your choice. There is no wrong decision if you like it. Oh, except for PSE. The only wrong decision is NOT getting it!

    Re: colour combo

im not too keen on the exhaust pipes of the pse, i kinda like the twin symmetrical ones that come as standard, although i keep hearing that the difference in sound really is something special

    Re: colour combo

IMHO the PSE tips (and all quad tips) should be matt black . They just add more clutter to the rear view of the car.

The interior of the car is very busy. Black is better for the person who likes things clean and "minimalist."

    just my us$.02

here's a comp photo for tail pipes FWIW

Go with the color combo you keep going back to.

It's always the same thing: at first you think you've nailed it. You know what you want. After a week, you notice another great combo. And you fell in love with it. So you really start to believe that it's the combo to go for. But then, a few days/week later, you end-up considering the first combo you had loved.

Go with the combo that keeps coming back in your mind. The one that holds. Don't go for the one that just poped into your consideration and that might bore you after a week. A car is something you'll keep for a while. I don't know if it makes any sense to you.

In other words, don't go for "crush combo", a crush never last. Go with your old "highschool love combo" you will never forget.

Your experience with the colour decision dilemma sounds very familiar I spent so much hours visiting all the Porsche Centres nearby my place (9 Centres within 1 hour drive...) just to reconfirm that my original colour choice would be the right one. Now, after 20,000 km in my Seal/Cocoa 987 S I never looked back - the grey/brown combo ist just awesome - so you can imagine what I've voted for
Agree with Easy on the coloured wheel crest: nice with a silver painted car, but IMO too busy on a grey car. Also the coloured wheelcrests distract a little bit from the red calipers which go perfectly with the grey exteriour colour.
I would consider to get the rear centre console painted in Meteor (nice variation on the Cocoa main theme) and to get the grey-silver seatbelts.

Absolutely the right advice! Heaven knows, I went through so many different colour combinations both before and after placing my order. In the end, after so much agonising and soulsearching, I boomeranged back to the original combination I chose.

Try to make this decision with your heart (not with your head). After all, how many of us fall in love with a woman because she would be practical to have as a wife?

Think of the colour that first captivated you, that first made you feel so helpless that you simply had to get a 911 just to ease the pain of not having one.

    It's all about passion!

Also, close your eyes and visualise a 911 in your mind's eye. This image may be the mental image of a 911 that could form the conceptual basis for you to create your perfect 911.

As Jacques Derrida would argue, things need to exist in our minds before they can exist around us.

Slow down on the Derrida ... Heidegger might say that nothing exists outside of our minds.

It is only a color choice - I tend to believe that we will validate whatever choice we make (we get used to it). It is simply a matter of knowing oneself (Aristotle I believe) and trusting in that.

    Re: colour combo

Most cars look beautiful in the showroom. Go w/ the cocoa. I placed an order for a C4S Basalt Bkack/Cocoa

Nice quotations I especially agree that one should know oneself and be true to oneself. John Donne argued the same thing.

As for just validating whatever we choose, I don't subscribe to that view in matters of subjective taste.

In any event, I never want to 'just get used to' the colour I choose. I want it to make me feel good every time I see it. So it has to be THE colour which does that to me.

    Re: colour combo

guys your feedback is very valuable.

the colour combo of a car is probably the most personal of all options and the most difficult.

the dealer said he will have a meator grey/cocoa available next week in the showroom for me to view it, and thus offered me an extention for my final decision.

you do keep on going in circles in the end, ive found myself in the last couple of days starting to contemplate whether a midnight blue/dark grey might also be an option.

it truely is never ending, though i believe colours u see in a book and on the net dont actually do the eyes any justice, if it looks good in real and you like it, then go for it

    Re: colour combo

I have the atlas/black combo and like it very much. But I think the cocoa interior is so nice. Go for it. More unique too.

    Re: colour combo

Remember the cocoa has black 'veins'...like a marbling effect. It looks textured. I love it. Just see it first before you choose it.

    Re: colour combo

I have Atlas and Black and really like it, however Meteor and Cocoa is very special, go for it !

    Re: colour combo

ok i have put my order in, it took just one look with my own eyes at the meteor grey/cocoa interior to know this is the porsche i want to own.

    my final specs are:

    carerra S
    meteor grey
    cocoa brown
    tiptronic S
    park assist
    auto dimming interior /exterior mirrors
    chrome plated tailpipes
    electric seats
    floor mats / fire extinguisher
    soft ruffled leather
    leather casing for steering wheel
    aluminium centre console
    aluminium multi function stearing wheel
    navigation module
    telephone module
    bose surround sound
    sports desgin 19" wheels

delievery scheduled for May, due to high demand in Dubai.

    Re: colour combo

Are you sure you want soft ruffled leather? You'll only know how much you will miss PSE when you hear it.

    Otherwise many congrats!!

Yes - that sounds really good. I've gone for Meteor / Black leather and Red Belts on an C2S, but I was close to going for the Cocca interior too. Enjoy.

    Re: colour combo

actually I was considering contacting the dealership to remove the soft ruffled leather option.

although he made it clear once he punches in the order everything is confirmed and no going back.

hopefully ill be able to remove it.

as to PSE its an option I can add anytime according to the dealer, we will see how it goes once the car arrive.

    5 months! :/ ... patience truly is a virtue I guess.

I would not spend the cash on that myself.

I think PSE is a nice option. If they retrofit PSE you loose the option to switch the exhaust from stealth to sport mode from the dash. It is perminantly mixed to sports mode and there is no button on the dash. You might like to consider an aftermarket exhaust from Tubi or one of the other specialists that make quality exhausts, nice sounds, weigh less that the PSE and liberate a little extra bhp and Nm from the engine.
