Sorry to disappoint, but it would seems like the early news is that that mid engine street RSR might be a limited release of like 500 cars.

Sorry you speak about a different model like the GT3 RS? or  its the GT3.2 RS with mid engine? thanks

    There will be a 991.2GT3RS.

Then there should be this midengined unicorn street RSR limited release.

    2 different cars.

Based on the 991 or 992 platform ? Release in 2018? Thanks for information whoopsy

A limited street mid engined RSR could fetch an absolutely ridiculous price second hand

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

IMHO they should split the GT line in two lines:

    - a GT3 line with the current engine setup and possibility of rear seats/no wing and make a "spider" version, PDK or manual for the last few rebels, they could even design a high revving turbo engine for these
    - a GT2/3 RS line with no rear seats, big wing, more track ready, PDK only, but more importantly a mid engine configuration.

Then they can keep softening the regular 911 and turbo lines to cater for people looking for sporty daily drivers with some silly hybrid gimmicks.

Then 6-10 years from now they can try to have an all EV 911, I would really consider a full EV Carrera 4 GTS convertible.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

What is this???angel Is there actually rumors about a street registered/ legal RSR coming ? With the LeMans sound?😛😛😛

    When and where?

Something about needing to build x cars for some homologation requirements.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Hmmm, so if anyone knows how to get one it would be you or Whoopsy. So who do I talk to?😎

Definitely @Whoopsy  - I have zero visibility at Porsche Smiley . I have made some progress though, this time I got a nice call from the OPC to say I would not be able to get a GT2RS rather than me having to phone and ask Smiley and then be told No.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Oh, that's bad news😟 But I'm not so sure about my chances either anymore. How many cars will be sent to a country that don't even get the configurator up....? Zero???yes

Well, Nick, who do I contact?😳 Maybe you could give me Wallisers contacts?cool

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

This car is not a sure thing. It might be the ultimate unicorn and makes getting their hands on a 911R seems extremely easy.

I might not even be able to source one if it doesn't passes North American standards.

There are just rumours right now, no one can verify sources or half way confirm something like that is happening.

The puzzle seems to fall in place by itself though.

Some race teams have been asking Porsche to sell the mid engine RSR race cars, Porsche do planned to sell them to customers next year for racing, price tag unknown, but it will be very big. How many can stomach that price?

But if Porsche do indeed do the street car to help finance the program, then the price tag for the race car might come down and make them a easier sell.

Yeah, the price (and mark-up) would be extraordinary for a 911.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

    Stupidity never dies...

Don't get me wrong, definitely an interesting project (and a lucrative one as well, I think Smiley) but the owner could have just sold his GT3 RS, getting a new 991.2 GT3 with manual instead (I doubt that he would miss his GT3 RS).
