    Dirty TTS

I love the fact that I seem to see even more 911's on the road in winter, being used properly. Probably can't say the same for other 'exotics'.

    Re: Dirty TTS

great more winter pix. its one thing that really distances pcar owners from the garage queen group

    Re: Dirty TTS

    Great!! I love winter pics!

542 HP and we passed 265'000 km yesterday...

    Re: Dirty TTS

    Pierre,

Your beautiful pictures of your 996TT in winter prompt me to ask: Do you know of any car rental firms in Switzerland that rent winterized Porsche 911 Turbo's (993, 996 or 997) from Geneva or Zurich? Our next Alps ski holiday to either Davos/Klosters (gateway Zurich) or Zermatt (gateway Geneva) would ideally combine skiing with a 911 Turbo en route to the resort.

    Merry Christmas, all.

    Al

P.S.: Christian, where are the Santa smiley's this year?

They should really put your car in the Porsche Museum!!

Keep the photos coming, they're great!

    Re: Dirty TTS

@Pierre: Do you mind me using some of your pics on a Belgian car forum?

What suspension do you have on your car? It looks nicely lowered, but maybe it's just the km's weighing on the springs

Also do you have some interiorpics? Gotta love a turbo with GT3 buckets + rollcage

jeez...that's a lot of kms!!! how many years do you have this car??? what are the damages so far??? I mean it as in that I don't think there's anyone else in here that has a turbo with so many kms on it...it's impressive!!!

    Re: Dirty TTS

@Al: for high-end car rental in Switzerland, I'd say you should try www.eliterent.com. Not cheap, but they should be able to meet your expectations.

@Porker: the suspension is a quite low H&R coilover setup.
Feel free to use the pics! If you could then send me a PM with a link to the forum, that'd be cool.
    Some interior pics:

You'll find some more winter and interior pics here: http://www.swisscarsightings.com/indepth/pages/indepthporsche996turbo.html

@MarcusRay: The car was first registered in Aug '00 and I bought it in May '01 with just under 7'000km. Damages? Besides a few normal little things, the major ones were:
    - 217'000km: clutch and... engine
    - 256'000km: gearbox

    Thanks Pierre,

    I'll check it out.

I guess you're the only one that's using his Turbo as it was meant to be used...keep it real!

I think it looks cool. A dirty car is a fashion statement, not to mention that it's harder to target with police LIDAR.

    Re: Dirty TTS

Mine is unbelievably dirty but not as much as the last one

    Re: Dirty TTS

Today! I always wanted to know how my car would look like with dark rims...

    Re: Dirty TTS

You must have been driving at least through half of Germany and Switzerland to get to that result !!!

    Re: Dirty TTS

996 TT still looks absolutely stunning...the 997 TT looks like a dog's dinner in comparison

    Re: Dirty TTS

    Absolutely stunning!!!!

    Thanks pierre!

    Re: Dirty TTS

While visiting Gert Carnewal last week I granted my TT a full flemish mud and salt make-up as well. In winter in this part of the world it's simply not possible to drive a mile without ending up with a dirty car :

If, by having a dirty car, one is deliberately trying to send out a statement that "My car is there to be used so I don't care if it gets dirty plus I didn't get it for the sake of cosmetic appearances", surely this is equally vain in a different way? Surely the whole point in having a dirty car is that one shouldn't care what statement it makes or what others think?

Deliberately keeping a dirty car as a fashion statement is just as vain as deliberately driving a bling car just to look cool. It's the fact that the opinion of others influences one's actions that makes it vain.

The "fashion statement" part was there to present another point of view. I don't care what others think, I wash the car when I feel like it. And yes, keeping the car intentionally dirty is as bad as washing it every week.

    Re: Dirty TTS

I bought my 2003 996TT in Pittsburgh last week with a little over 6,000 original miles. I drove it home to Connecticut in the pouring rain (we usually have snow in December) to increse the mileage almost 10% the first day. When I got it home and into my garage it was mudd splattered and looked great. Time to put a lot more miles on her.
